Both Mattis and Gattis have stated on multiple occasions that they wouldn't end up together and yet there was still a massive outcry of surprised rage when the final episode aired and they didn't end up together. I like the idea of Johnlock but I don't know what Tumblr expected

I hate this rhetoric so damn much it almost makes me want to be mad on the internet. Cults are a completely separate entity from Alt-righters. At the very least unless they are part of some Nazi group (which most Alt-righters people aren't even that) the reason why you don't debate cults is because in numbers they are dangerous and can easily overpower you. Cults are made to brainwash naiive and hopeless people. The reason you don't debate them is because it's pointless half of the time. They've been conditioned to believe what they think is right.
That being said sometimes debating people like Nazis or KKK members can be a good thing becuase it possibly allows them to challenge their world views and change their ways. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's a possiblity. You have cases in which people left those groups because they were challenged what they believed in. Sometimes it really does take one person.
All punching them does is make them further sink into their support group. They double down because they believe the world I'd out to get them and physically assaulting them without the pretense of self defense does that. Way to go. Making this problem 10 times worse because you want to be so woke you got your head up your ass.

It's literally cult logic itself. It's cults that forbid people from talking to outsiders lest they be convinced. Cults have the opposite technique, and even use it in their recruitment. Large group cult recruitments even have names for the practice, like "separating the sheep from the goats," when they get a bunch of people together to recruit them. People who question anything are winnowed away like chaff until they end up with a smaller but compliant group, and then they use the seeming unanimity of the group to convince everyone left that what's going on is normal.
"Don't talk to the outsiders" is literally cult recruitment shit.

I saw pictures of two friends one Republican and one Democrat who voted and this one person had the nerve to reply (with thousands of likes mind you) that "it must be so great to be white that you don't have to worry about politics".
Like. I've met black Republicans (they're a thing too) and I can say that not everything is black and white. People can still be friends and vote differently. Some issues are more important to you obviously. But as always not all people on the left are anarchists and not all people on the right are super conservative Nazis.
At the end of the day, things will happen regardless so you have to make do with what happens. Even if one party won things could still go to shit.
