Reparations refers to giving money to the descendants of American slaves, and Black History Month is mostly an American thing, so English is the only relevant language. Not that that makes it better, but from context it was obvious to me this is an American talking to other Americans.

I don't understand anyone actually living like that. That is so unhealthy to constantly wallow in negativity. Part of pride (both LGBT pride and being proud of your heritage) is actually HAVING PRIDE. Like, you actually have to try. You have to boost yourself, love yourself, and be yourself in the face of adversity. But all I see are people too busy being negative to love themselves, so they're never happy, and they never make any progress.

I don't even want to get into people calling for reparations on the basis of individual accumulation of wealth. That's not "reparations", that's you--personally--obtaining financial gain OVER your brothers and sisters, many of whom are in a far worse position elsewhere in the world, and who won't see or feel a thing from someone dropping a buck into your personal paypal. That is literally just self-centered greed from a place of privilege. "Entire races are oppressed across the globe. Give ME money for it."

I've seen tons of people on tumblr say that being positive or optimistic is toxic, unrealistic, an indicator of privilege, what have you. The truth is the majority of tumblr users are a bunch of really sad 13-25 year olds trying desperately to fill that hole in their hearts. Which is why going on tumblr isn't fun but draining, even if you stick to the non-discourse sides because all the "positivity" posts ring hollow.

Tumblr really sucks at lifting people up and supporting them. It's always a battle of who's got it worse. I'd hate to be a kid on here, especially like 15 - 16 when insecurities are at the max, and to have them all increased and such because I'm not oppressed enough or whatever.

I've heard it said that you shouldn't tease people for something they can't fix in 5 minutes. Unless they're shitty people or you're not saying it to their face like the cows in the Beauty Parlor or something.

I've been watching this queerTCC blog for a while, and I'm pretty sure it's a parody account since some of it is too absurd even for that community.

It's been ten years and people still miss the point of the performance in Tropic Thunder. 1) The performance wasn't demeaning to black people or insulting black people in any way like usually blackface did in history. 2) It was fucking satire. 3) People who do this are getting offended over him doing blackface in the film when that was the whole fucking point of the film. He was a method actor who was so into his roles that he did blackface and that was the joke. That he was being an asshole.

LOL, they're mad that the movie was saying he was an asshole. Oh, Tumblr.

4) I hope they don't watch Trading Places.
