I've never seen BP because I've gotten tired of Marvel movies (and Hollywood movies in general) years ago, but from the synopsis itself it seems like a typical superhero movie. If it wasn't for the skin color of the actors, I'm sure it would be nothing to write home about.

Black Panther has some cool ideas in it and the integration of African culture feels interesting if you don't think about it too hard. It's a standard, passable superhero movie that isn't as SJW as it seems despite what the fans say (the villain is basically a reverse racist extremist), but it's only really worth watching if you're invested in the MCU as a whole. It's not paced very well.

LMAO, no.

Seriously there are way too many of these "give me money" posts during Black History Month. Stick it out until your next paycheck like every other working class person has to do.

I mean if you're gonna bring up "i'm black and it's black history month" I'd think the trans part is irrelevant to the post, but this is tumblr where you have to cram every oppression point to make the begging more valid. Like when you go to an ssi appeal and make sure to act extra re.tarded.

It's definitely a signifigant cultural milestone as far as being a superhero movie where most of it takes place in Africa, with a majority black cast and strong afro-futurism themes. Personally I found it more engaging for the art direction and Killmonger more than anything else; my main complaint is that they played it way too safe with the plot itself. Then again, that can be a complaint against most Marvel movies, but it was kind of a bummer to see a movie with such a distinct visual style just kind of come off as... I don't know, dry? I don't think it's a bad movie, but it's certainly not my favorite Marvel movie. Season 1 of Luke Cage had a way more compelling story with a black superhero, and a fucking kick-ass soundtrack. But I don't see very many people on Tumblr talking about Luke Cage.

... I should probably watch season 2 already.

These people for years are always super dismissive of adult media and make a thousand excuses as to not watch it, tbh. Maybe they should just say "it doesn't interest me" and move on.

Funny, I remember growing up as a teen the kids that were seen as the most cool were the ones who were watching actually adult media. Where did they all go?

at some point the cool thing for kids to do was to watch "adult" media that is actually just as childish as childrens media, but gets adult ratings because it's full of foul language, lewdness, and edgy violence. things like tarantino movies for example.

But Tarantino movies are good, even if they are edgy. What you’re describing are Seth Rogan flicks.
