I know someone that treats it as a third gender but from what I can tell they aren't (or at least don't consider themself) an SJW.

Yeah, the genderfluid character was the most forced, 3edgy5me mary sue bullshit. I dropped the series as soon as she was introduced.

The Muslim character also never made sense to me. Why does she continue worshipping Allah if she knows for a fact that her dad is a literal god? Why did her Good Muslim Girl™ mother sleep with a dude she'd just met out of wedlock? And more importantly, why the fuck did Rick Riordan put the 14 year old Muslim character into an arranged marriage with a (distant) relative and try to frame that as 100% okay and empowering?? What the fuck??

Yeah, she's from the Magnus Chase series. Her name is Alex Fiero or something like that, and she's a literal dangerhaired 3edgy5me punk kid who garrotes her enemies, is super strong and badass, can shapeshift to match what gender she feels like that day, and the main character starts crushing on her like five minutes after they met. I wish I was joking, but I'm not.

Nah that's the problem the post was addressing. Because the term pansexual got coined, there are people going aroudn saying that people who ID as bisexual are problematic because they are all trans exclusionary and only believe in/ are attracted to binary gendered people. The author of the post was arguing that that isn't true, because like, it isn't.

It's still so asinine because they still use the term sexual attraction or sexuality. You're still implicitly saying that it's what's in someone's pants that's important (and binary).

I'm really surprised that they haven't made up some term like "gender attraction" yet to use in its place.

Don’t think there was ever an update on this (no other links/archives cos ima go to bed soon but check out this and ill do archiving tomorrow morning - theres a LOT to archive). Here’s some highlights
  • Amber is a white MTF who apparently produces rap music on the internet and has a girlfriend.
  • He purged his blogs and reddit posts early on, but there’s enough archived info that it’s kinda futile.
  • He claims to have DID without a majority of the symptoms, along with PTSD and a head injury. Someone who’s actually diagnosed with DID pointed out that having a TBI and PTSD disqualifies you from a DID diagnosis and that the doctor that Amber cited as the one who diagnosed him isn’t qualified to give DID diagnoses. He called her a bitch, lol.
  • Other people who are mentally ill or psychotic have spoken out saying that Amber is clearly delusional, since they know how to recognize delusional behavior. Of course these people get called ableist. Amber claims to not experience delusions.
  • There have been multiple people who have came out and stated that they were with Mitski on the same dates/times where Mitski apparently assaulted Amber and that didn’t happen.
  • Amber says he got a cease and desist letter from Mitski’s lawyers and that he’s going to delete his blog the next morning. This was two days ago. He’s still posting and promoing his Soundcloud.
  • Mitski made a statement at some point basically saying “i support victims but this accusation isn’t true, hope this person gets help” and Amber later complained about the use of gender neutral pronouns since he’s a WOMAN.
  • People are VERY INSISTENT on respecting Amber’s identity at all costs, howdareumisgenderhurr, probably because they would have called bullshit ages ago if Amber wasn’t a transwoman. People still believe the story.
