I love the low-key projection here.

The Tumblr ~*qweer*~ community is primarily guilty of this shit. They have such a fucked concept of what makes a person "acceptable" (i.e. being Not Cis and Not Straight) that kids/teens are inevitably going to feel pressured to come out as LGBT in one form or another. They're being told that if they're not LGBT, they're the evil oppressors- or boring, bland, unexciting, etc. There is big social currency in forcing yourself into the label even if you know you don't really fit it, and there's big consequences socially if they eventually realize "Wow, I'm not gay/trans, I'm actually straight and cis." They're going to either be seen as liars, or they're going to be seen as no longer conforming to the social group the way that they're supposed to.

And I'm sorry, but when we're talking about young people who have been bullied and socially engineered to believing they're trans because they like things non-traditional for their gender (and even being given tips on how to make sure their DOCTORS believe that they're trans) my sympathies lie less with the transgender movement than it does with the people who have mutilated or harassed irl because YOU fuckers convinced them that they "Had" to be trans or be kicked out of the cool kids tumblr club.

This post (which is a collection of twitter posts from a detransitioner) has gotten some traction over the last month, so I'm wondering if maybe the one above is salty from it.
