How to make good trans characters: Same way you make any other good character.
You see, tumblr doesn't understand that. Being trans/gay/fat/whatever HAS to be the main trait of their character, essentially turning them into some stereotype. Some people we're complaining that when Dumbledore was confirmed gay, that he wasn't "gay enough".

Once again, this is bullshit from someone who reblogged a post I made (same post mentioned earlier). It wasn't even a serious post--it was a jokey fandom post about a character I'm fond of:

Seriously, THAT is what's attracting all these fuckers. Why. W h y.

Remind me to never post anything people might reblog ever again jfc. :(

I decided to look at this kid's about page.

My blog is like 80% Homestuck anyway. This is probably the highest concentration of crazies I've ever gotten on a single post--like, a good quarter of the reblogs seem to be from fictives and such.
>Being a homosuck
All joking aside Homestuck is one of the first of the Tumblr fandoms to be completely overtaken by SJW and loser teenagers and it's pretty much Tumblr Law to have all the crazies raid your post if it gets more than 100 notes.

I agree there, but what's funny is that I've made HS posts that got more notes than this, and I generally don't get this many crazies by volume.

Also, if you are actively suicidal because someone doesn't like a character you like, you need to suck it the fuck up. Especially when that character is as controversial as Vriska is.

Wanna make Juliet a trans girl? Where in the script does it say she isn't?

Well, technically, nowhere. But I have a very hard time believing that any family in Renaissance Italy would ever allow their son to become their daughter, for a few reasons:

1. This was the Renaissance. This was a very religious time in history. And the Catholic Church would burn you if you went so far as to say the Sun was at the center of the solar system, much less saying that you were the wrong gender.
2. This was pre-modern Europe, where sons were a lot more valued than daughters were. There's no way any sane merchant family would give up a son to gain a daughter like that.
3. To be honest, I can't think of anything good here, but I like groups of three, so I guess I'll just say that where would Juliet even have heard of the idea?

Sorry for the sperging. Label this A-Log if you want but I had to get it out. I'm a tiny bit of a history buff, especially when it comes to Europe.

Good to see they're ruining the bard too. Seriously, how delusional do you have to be to take Shakespeare's work and warp it to suit your bizarre sjw views.

My guess is because they just want to, like how fanfic writers often just have shit happen because they want it to happen and damn the logical progression of said universe or the canon.

You wouldn't react like this if it wasn't for the SJW context. The only thing I don't agree with tumblr on here is how they focused on hamfisting trans-whatever into Shakespeare, and only later thought of making everyone aliens. Romeo & Juliet as aliens of different races prejudiced against each other in a space opera/soft sci-fi setting? That shit could be great. Adaptations are great.

Everyone is literally only reacting to the SJW shit, no one said anything about the alien thing. If it didn't have the SJW bits at the top this post probably wouldn't be in this thread.

Calm down there, bud.

For fuck's sake. These folks seriously need to get off the internet and seek professional help if this shit makes them suicidal.
I understand getting attached to a character, and I know it sucks seeing people bash your favorite character, but if that actually makes you suicidal, then you really need to reevaluate your priorities.

Considering I was specifically reacting to, as you so eloquently put it, "hamfisting trans-whatever in to Shakespeare", and didn't even talk about the aliens thing at all, and considering you claim to "not agree" with the thing I was arguing against, I don't really see the problem you have with what I posted.

What. I wasn't even responding to the Shakespeare stuff: I was suggesting a reason to @Piga Dgrifm on why people arbitrarily change the identity of a character when there were options. It had nothing to do with whatever this spergery is.

You legitimately pulled a me in the Mighty No. 9 thread and did not read the posts that well, did you?

The idea is not even new, original, or shocking any more: those "eurotrash" directors fucking around with operas for at least 20 years. Parsifal with rotting bunnies, Lohengrin with alien fetus, Madama Butterfly as a child prostitute, that sort of thing.

They're probably just glomming onto Hamlet because the titular character is a bit of a whiny edgelord.
Make Bottom an actual bottom.

He should use his magic to turn himself into a bishie and have sweet sweet yaoi with Snape.

Let's translate this tumblrese into English:
16-year-old American--got that.
Latinx but white-passing? Had one Mexican grandparent.

16 and has no clue about sexuality
Nonautistic (like 67/68 of the population)
Self-diagnosed and doesn't like looking at skin types which were a mark of disease for millennia
Thin (sure)
Otherkin (well, I'm shocked, I tell you.)
Likes popular webcomic
[Personality superstition that nobody cares about]
Likes to draw

What a special snowflake. :tumblr:

If it was a version set in the modern times, then it would be easier to take, but you're right.
