The more spiritual sides of tumblr are as fun as you'd imagine.

Wearing plus-sized clothes is now a thin privilege.

I can imagine these fat activist tumblrinas shaking their fist as they go to a clothing store that usually doesn't cater to their size and shout out "Thin PRIVILEGE!!!" while dramatic music plays. Even with a scenario like this. I don't know why, but it's a funny image.

It may be almost a year old, but I found this post being reblogged on the "Writing with Color" tumblr.

Without getting into the whole "Black Egyptians" debate, this makes even other so-called "Afrocentric" models of history look mainstream. And there's no hint of sarcasm or irony in either the original post or the reblog.

But what makes this reblog doubly shocking is that Writing with Color appears to be one of the more popular, widely circulated blogs when it comes to writing non-European characters in fiction. I've seen it held as this respectable resource in many fantasy writing forums, so I'm surprised to see them sink this low.

I'd almost say that the most recent post is an example of Poe's Law. But they might not be, and in fact would not be shocking if they were serious. Anywho, the very first thing I'd love to see are their sources for these; as a big history fan, I'd love to see where this came from.

I'll hazard a guess and say it is some kind of moist and very smelly, dirty area. Trust me, this is fringe even by "Afrocentric" standards.
I guess blacks aren't normal people like you or me after all. Who knew?

Back in my tumblr days, this black Tumblrina who had harassed me a few times called herself a "Boi Queen". She fit the Tumblr stereotype almost to a tee: tendency to appropriate all kinds of psychology minority identities, obese and proud of it, and hating anything to do with white, cis-gendered, heterosexual, and/or male people. And checking back on her blog now, I see she still hasn't grown up.

Oh God why did I click that.

On other hand yet another white (*shudder*) girl is ranting how lame excuse is that there's fantasy game made by POLISH devs which revolves around POLISH culture and mythology that somehow doesn't include people of color and it's making me unbelievable angry because being of Slavic heritage (not polish), majority of these rants implies that whole white culture is same everywhere and somehow fuck devs that are making characters that's closes to themselves.

I'm holding myself not to go ballistic.

My roots are largely German and Slavic (with most of that being Polish) and while the culture I grew up with is generally just that of the standard White American, there is still connection with family gatherings and whatnot (more with the Polish side). It's pretty stupid to think that a Brit, a Frenchman, a Pole, and a German are all going to have the exact same culture because, you know, white people. But this is Tumblr we're talking about. Don't you know culture is determined solely by skin color?

Yet white Tumblrinas will flip their lid if someone jokingly says the entirety of people Africa are a homogenous culture (which, of course, they aren't).
