And that's something I agree with too, but I got completely different vibe from this post, it isn't ''hey maybe our parents made us insecure about society in whole instead of letting us live our childhood'' it sounds more like when a parent tells kid to clean up their room and they are being passive aggressive little shits about it. It sounds like gross over generalization.

Dunno about America tho, that sort of parental behavior isn't much prevalent where I live, even though I know some cases unfortunately.
My parents made me wary to go too far from home as a kid, going so far as to tell me about kidnappers and rapists who had lived in the city and now they're surprised that I'm 22 and I don't have any interest in going outside if I don't have to, but my folks might be a special case in my Canadian city.

I could do without the passive-aggressive shit from my parents but I figure that's what everyone's parents do.

That's shitty. My mother wasn't that kind of scare monger, however there was only one specific instance, and it was when we would go somewhere in nature outside of the city it would be ''don't wander too much and watch your steps, there are mines around'', and I could only wish she was exaggerating. One hill above my town caught fire during summer and you could hear mines go off. Even today people die here from forgotten mines.

I think it might be a reaction left over from reading fan fics back in the day but when I see someone talking about their own eyes in this way theres a level of second hand embarrassment I just can't kick.

Y'know, green eyes are rare enough as it is. I don't know why this person had to go through Tara Gilesbie's descriptions to make it sound like her eye color is so ~*speshul

So what I'm taking away from this is that this is an orientation where the only relationships you form with people are ones where you wanna fuck them.

Isn't that just demisexual, aka that dumb thing invented by fanfiction to make their character more special?

Nah, demisexual is where you only want to fuck people you have a close platonic relationship with, and you are therefore being oppressed if someone asks you what celebrities you think are hot.

I actually don't have much of a problem with people labeling themselves as "demisexuals." I'm kinda sympathetic because I don't get attracted to people or get crushes often and for a while, I felt kinda weird for it, especially since all my friends were a lot more boy crazy than I was. I personally don't label myself as such but if someone is similar to me and feels like putting a label on themselves makes them feel better, than I don't care much.

But what really gets me is people who claim that they're oppressed because of it and that they're not heterosexual, even though they only show interest in the opposite gender. That's bullshit.

"Demisexual" just seems like a pretentious way of saying "I'm just picky and you gotta warm up to me first."

I think that what they're describing is a real thing, more or less, but it's not a sexuality in and of itself, it's just a preference in the way you feel attraction. It has nothing to do with who you're attracted towards, so it's not a real sexuality, and doesn't need a stupid label like "demisexual".

Well, yeah. That's a much nicer way of putting it than my dismissive way.

I remember hearing about this response to an article on the death of the last gay Holocaust survivor and one of them said that we need to also focus on the asexuals and demisexuals that were also persecuted at the time. Person rightfully got flack for it. It was on this podcast near the end.

Last time I checked, gay people were specifically targeted for being gay during the Holocaust. Asexuals were not, because the Nazis really didn't give a shit about that. And back then, the concept of "demisexuality" didn't even exist. How much of a selfish prick do you have to be to try and make the Holocaust all about you, anyway?
