Well of course not so scooting right along. The only gripe that's there with the "oooooo asyluuummm" trope is the fact that it's so, so tired. Like every other horror game is an asylum based deal. But from an ableism standpoint? Eh. One could just as easily chalk up terrible/scary conditions and shit to the abusive natures of the staff, which was and is pervasive in mental institutions. That's something to care about, not a dime-a-dozen horror game.

And huh, I made it through my dash without a single cringeworthy post today. Must be doing something right.

While I agree that mental patients=bad/scary is a problematic concept, being forcibly institutionalized is a really terrifying thing. I never have been as an adult, but when I was in the hospital voluntarily there were some people there whose 72-hour hold turned into several weeks because the county was so backed up. In my state, if you're forcibly institutionalized someone from the county is supposed to come after your 72 hours and determine if you need to stay in temporary care for a few more days, if you're well enough to be released, or if you're so mentally ill that you need to be placed in a more long-term care situation. But the people who do this are often very understaffed and they get so backed up that some patients are waiting for weeks for the county representative to come out and interview them and they don't know when they're gonna go home. That's scary.

I'm a transtrender and can't stop saying how much I looooooooove this fictional character which makes me a total special snowflake right guys?
I'm also a little bitch who can't own up to being wrong or called out for saying anything bad and because I say I have 'anger problems' you can't hold me accountable for anything awful or rude or downright idiotic I say when I claim that I was just in 'a state of anger'.

I never got the PoC headcanon/edit thing. I understand Tumblr's "representashun!" schtick, but claiming that an established character (i.e., Harry Potter and Hermione Granger) is actually black is pretty ridiculous.

There's this one artist out there that did racebent fanart of Disney Princesses and it was very well done and awesome. This just seems lazy. All they seem to do was darken her skin a la Photoshop 101. I don't think they even bothered giving her eyes another color (While I am aware that blue eyed nonwhite people exist, they are very rare and more often than not, the only reason they have blue eyes in the first place is because they have at least some white ancestry).

"Race Headcanons" don't bother me too much as long as they're simply just "What if..." rather than "This character is white and that must be changed bc whitey is ebil." Also claiming characters like Harry Potter and Hermione Granger are POC when they are pretty much indirectly confirmed to be white in the books is just silly. Draw all the racebent fanart you want. Just realize that it isn't actually canon.
