How do you know the black girl didn't braid her friends hair herself?

In May I went to the World's Fair in Milan, Italy and at the Qatar pavilion there was a lady who appeared native giving out free henna tattoos. I'm pretty sure she did this for whoever asked regardless of race and because it was the World's Fucking Fair there were people there from all over the damn world, not even just a shitton of Italians and American tourists but like everyone else. I'm pretty sure that she was willingly giving these tattoos to everyone because it's the World's Fair and people are nice and want you to appreciate their fucking culture so if she's giving out these tattoos to everyone - white or "of color" (as horribly one-sided as that term is) does it suddenly become okay if it's a black woman from Ethiopia or a Japanese man who gets the tattoo and completely morally reprehensible that me and my classmates and the two professors that were with us (one of whom is white but born in the Pacific Islands and raised in Sweden, mind) got tattoos because we're white American tourists, even though it was the World's-goddamn-Fair where the ENTIRE POINT is to showcase all kinds of culture from around the world and bring people of all races together?

Honestly, it was my favorite experience of the entire Italy trip. People wanted us to learn about their cultures and understand their ways of living. I ate Malaysian curry and a Japanese teriyaki burger graciously provided to me by people who are willing to serve this food to people of all stripes that grace their pavilions. Should I have been expected to eat at the American pavilion for both meals because I'm not allowed to learn about other cultures? I'd never had Malaysian curry or teriyaki anything before because I'm scared to try new foods, but this was the WORLD'S FAIR and I'd be kicking myself every day for the rest of eternity if I hadn't because when can I ever go back and see people who are truly enthusiastic about sharing their culture with others? Am I not allowed to because I'm white?

Similarly, I had an online class this summer called Intro to World Music. Our textbook was written by many people of many different ethnicities, not just white, and discussed many, many different musical cultures, with one prominent exclusion: the European classical tradition that so many even today consider "purer" than the "primitive" music of other cultures. Our final project was "go research your own culture - as long as it's not part of the European classical tradition". The entire point here was to educate the students attending a Southern American private university populated by mostly Euro-American white people about cultural differences between here and the rest of the world without looking at it through a Euro-American bias. How could that be anything but enriching?

Perhaps this is powerleveling, I don't really think it is because it's relevant. If it is, I'll get rid of it, no problem. But regardless, it always saddens me - really, really badly - when people claim that cultures shouldn't mix because the "minority" cultures need to be preserved and protected, even more than when people claim that cultures shouldn't mix because of white superiority. People - white, black, brown, pink with bright blue poka dots and green stripes - are not things to be stuck behind a glass case and admired from afar. Culture is meant to be shared.

I know I'm preaching to the choir, here. This is just one of those things that SJWs do that I feel really strongly about... though is it all invalidated because I'm a white American?...

The SJW concept of "cultural appropriation" is one of the more malevolent stupidities they perpetrate. It is cancerous know-nothingism disguised as progressivism. Anyone who starts that shit should be immediately laughed at and ignored.

Bidoof/Bibarel hate is so Gen 4. Get with the times and hate on Trubbish like a good Pokesperg. And "hey man let's make a _____ and just to be interesting let's make it evolve into a bigger _____ with a similar name" describes every single Pokemon ever created.

Sadly I can't seem to find it again, but one post that came across my dash a while back continues to stick with me. It was something along the lines of "As a male, I always choose to play as female characters in video games and you should to because something something representation unfair treatment something"

If you seriously think that your character choice in a video game has any impact on society or social justice or that literally anyone gives a fuck, you have clearly been on the internet for so long that the mere touch of sunlight would cause your skin to slough off in great heaps. Go outside you goddamn cuck.

While I'm guessing this thread is meant to make fun of Tumblr posts, this one does a great job explaining all the ways Tumblr has gotten it wrong

If you would rather skip reading all of the different examples, I think these bits are worth reading

Also, in many countries, Americans who refuse to partake in cultural activities or traditional dress out of fear of appropriation are seen as snobbish and entitled.

Being culturally literate actively fights racial prejudice or ignorance. Taking the time to learn another culture’s history, values, perspective, and traditions makes people better citizens... Cultural competence can only help society, and it prevents genuine, offensive cultural appropriation.

Historically, separating cultures often leads to cultural incompetence, xenophobia, discrimination, stereotyping, and racism. Cultural appropriation is bad, but that doesn’t make cultural segregation good.

All I got from that was that it wasn't actually a thing and was just something made up to be outraged about while amusing onlookers in its racial segregation supporting undertones.
