I argued (over email) with the mods to *not* permanently block Arisbosch for exactly this reason. The Powers That Be™ chose differently, and I decided not to pursue the matter any further. Quoting myself from that conversation:

Quite the opposite. Gray areas are where rules are needed the most. Otherwise you're creating situations where punishment is handed down based on the personal feelings of the moderator. Those the mods like will escape severe punishment, those the mods do not will have the book thrown at them.
