Wesley was whining about a programming conference called LamdaConf the other day, and it looks like whoever is in charge of the RW twitter (David Gerard most likely) wanted to get in on that. From what I gather, the conference had someone scheduled to speak and the 'SJW' types decided he was racist and they fucked over the conference by whining about it and got all but one sponsor to back out. So, people started crowdfunding to get their conference back and butthurt Gerard decided to attack them.

TBH I don't know and don't care about what happened on the Twitter.

Just thought I'd pop in to note that the vast majority of people who whine about RationalWiki being "biased" or not being "rational", almost without exception, would not whine if RationalWiki reflected *their* preferred political stance.

In other words: as always, "biased" and "irrational" really means "disagrees with me". (And no, even that bastion of rationality, RationalWiki, is not immune to this.)

I'd prefer RW took no political stance, and thus would only be called irrational by the theists, but hey.

While you're not entirely wrong, here's the problem: your social justice shit doesn't even try to logically defend itself based on facts most of the time, and the assholes who write it play it up as gospel truth and insult and drive away anyone even remotely skeptical. The GamerGate articles are the fucking worst because of this, with large sections of them just being outright ad hominem.

The articles that haven't turned to shit are the one where you guys actually let the evidence you present make your case and rein in the smug fedoralord bullshit, like the stuff where you expose fake psychics, homeopathy, and global warming denial.

A bias isn't bad in itself, but when you can't argue it intelligently and resort to telling people they need to believe something or they can go fuck themselves for being heretics, that's not rational. Even though RationalWiki has a strong atheist bias, even that shit generally tries to let evidence and reason make it's case most of the time.
