I'm getting the feeling that either I'm the only person who honestly like FFVII, or that everyone else did, but is too cool to admit it now.

Anyone who claims they weren't into FFVII, especially at the time of the original, is full of crap. It's only in hindsight that one can pull apart the threads.I'm getting the feeling that either I'm the only person who honestly like FFVII, or that everyone else did, but is too cool to admit it now.
I thought it was okay at the time. I never liked the modern/future setting. Always preferred my Final Fantasy games with medieval settings like FFI - FFV and FFIX and FFXII. I loved the mix of medieval and steampunk in FFVI, that was a good way to mix the genres. FFVII and FFVIII are towards the bottom of my FF list due to the modern/future/cyberpunk elements. Don't even get me started on FFXIII or FFXV. That being said, Danny boy's criticisms of FFVII stem from him just disliking it so he can appear to be a cool contrarian.Anyone who claims they weren't into FFVII, especially at the time of the original, is full of crap. Thats funny just checked and your right. They flipped back in 08 and didn't legalized it till 2012. 2016 elections Hilary only won the state by 4%.Colorado wasn’t turned into a blue state by pot legalization. Colorado has been blue in presidential races since 08, it hasn’t had a republican governor since 06 and democrats have controlled both legislative chambers since 07 (with the exception of six years, even then republicans only controlled one chamber at a time). He’s talking out of his ass as always.
I liked the SNES titles well-enough, but only played it until after the Midgard section until shelving it. Did like Tactics, but I'd take Dragon Quest or Breath of Fire over FF. Would put Legend of Dragoon, Suikoden II, Xenogears, Valkyrie Profile, or Legend of Legaia, and a good deal of tactics games over FFVII.Anyone who claims they weren't into FFVII, especially at the time of the original, is full of crap. FF7 (fuck roman numerals) was good, but good in a way that The Matrix was good. For the time it was something new, ground-breaking, epic, genre defining; in doing so it literally ruined everythingI liked the SNES titles well-enough, but only played it until after the Midgard section until shelving it. It’s probably more hipster than everyone realizes. Pulps were the primary method of entertainment during the early 20th century. They were cheap and easy to produce and anyone could make a decent-ish living if you pumped out enough of them. But they fell out of favor once people started being able to get radio dramas that were higher quality and cost nothing.Would anyone care explaining why Danny Boy fetishizes "pulp" stories as if being cheap and low quality is something to actively want in your work?

Just a reminder that Hubbard was a pulp fiction writer, not all of them where good. It’s probably more hipster than everyone realizes. The only people who care about pulps as a concept are hipsters and historians. His book is a novella, not a pulp. As I said before, the real modern pulps are the amazon publishing books. And similarly, you can make decent living if you churn them out constantly.
Hell, nearly all of them were bad. Pulps were hand staples pamphlets you convinced the news stand to sell for pennies in case anyone was bored on their lunch break. They were almost like the YouTube of their day. Low barrier of entry so anyone can do it, but only a tiny fraction make a living off it and only a tiny fraction of them are any goodJust a reminder that Hubbard was a pulp fiction writer, not all of them where good.
I wasn't, Everyone kept hyping the fucking thing up as the best video game ever, and while the early shit in Midgar was cool everything after was so mind numbingly awful that after the end of the first disc i just couldn't continue. I didn't give a single iota of a damn about cloud's boyfriend, and all the game was after Midgar was trying to track him down.Anyone who claims they weren't into FFVII, especially at the time of the original, is full of crap. A lot of people seem to forget that it literally says “...quite possibly the greatest game ever made” directly in the back of the box on the original black label print. Plus Sony had a massive marketing campaign for it, all stuff Dan is actually right about when he brings it up. The game is certainly special and has some elements that still haven’t been topped in some cases, but it’s not a holy grail. Hell, it’s not even the best final fantasy.I wasn't, Everyone kept hyping the fucking thing up as the best video game ever, and while the early shit in Midgar was cool everything after was so mind numbingly awful that after the end of the first disc i just couldn't continue. Not that I'm aware of. I think the biggest his ambitions go is to be some wannabe political talk-show shock jock. To give credit where it's due, he knows his lane (no matter how bad at it he is) and stays in it.I haven't been following this metal hipster in awhile. I have to give him props, he's consistently shit in his opinions on politics, music, games, and other media. That being said, has he ever made noises about stumbling in the Soyfather's footsteps and killing a political movement?
I've never seen it, however, I just now saw it in my mind and I don't need the real one to be able to recall it accurately. There was a Razorfist stream at some point this year where Terran was playing and Razorfist was actually reading chat.
I remember Razorfist sperging out in a mocking infantile voice about blackpillers in response to someone disagreeing with him in chat on the definition.
Does anyone remember that? I can't find the stream for the life of me.
I can’t remember if there was one in between, but the last one I know Terran played and Razor read on Deadly Premonition 2. Usually Terran does the switch games because it’s his switch. He also played marvel ultimate alliance 3There was a Razorfist stream at some point this year where Terran was playing and Razorfist was actually reading chat.
