They can do both. I'd rather they go after individual posters who can be proven in a court of law of actually aiding and abetting terrorist organizations (not simply re-uploading old videos) but it's clearly easier to threaten website hosts.

No-one is above the law and the United States and Serbia have an extradition treaty that allows the US to extradite people from Serbia. It was signed in 2016. Most countries have an extradition treaty.
The owner would comply if a court order was issued. He already can’t go out in public without looking over his shoulder, and had to flee into an obscure shithole poor ass country in Eastern Central Europe, he won’t risk prosecution by the US government.

Don’t give the owner of this website the means to gather sufficient reliable information on tracing you. Use a VPN, fake names and throwaway email.
Given that this website was also hacked and the owner seems to log and keep the IPs and who knows what else, and with no guarantee for how long, with zero accountability to the users here or to anyone else, (literally no one even has access to the data), it would be foolish to ever connect to this site using even fragments resembling any details that can track back to your real identity.

I wish people who sign up would know this. many treat this site like it was the same as logging into target to buy some groceries.

It was hacked and he kept the IPs exactly as long as he said. The thing is the site is hosted in some kind of colocation and if the glowies really care, they'll just set up their own logging and keep it up as long as they like.

Obviously use a VPN or tor depending on your threat model but if you really have federal agencies after you you have bigger problems than whatever is logged here including zero days directly targeted at you. This is an unsupported Xenforo instance and nothing about XF is going to be fixed by Josh.

I think you have missed my point. My fundamental point was as a reply to the person asking regarding the website owner’s conduct, that all and any logs will be handed to the authorities if a court order rolls in.
And it’s delusional to think that the owner will go against the law and risk prosecution to guard the data.

You can’t completely safeguard yourself online even with multiple layers of security, but unless you’re some VIP for the wrong reasons, you should be ok. It’s a different scenario to be tracked down by the authorities in a targeted fashion vs. a hack or the owner disliking you gets your credentials and IP out there - you can reasonably protect yourself from the latter.

If he would have received a court order, he would have complied.

Don’t forget that he is not in the best position anyway already, there is a reason he has been hiding out in Eastern Europe for the best part of the past 5 years. Those countries are less than ideal, talented people leave them, not move into them.
He will absolutely wind his neck in if a court order comes his way. From any western country.
And so he should, it’s self preservation.
