You're given the power to reboot any franchise you want, and you have full control over the narrative and plotline of the piece of media you're rebooting. Which franchise do you choose, and how whacky do you make it?

Personally I'd reboot the terminator and make everyone a moe anime girl

Space Above and Beyond, get rid of the Pilots being ground fighting Marines and make them have two separate arc's one focusing on the marines and another the pilots and film it Band of Brothers style i.e. have some old people at the begining and end of the episodes talking like they where recounting there experiences of the 1st contact war 50+ years after it happened.

I'd keep the Silicates as a protagonist but make them work with the Chigs more often, Aerotec being a government outside of the government that is wanting to expand it's power a bit like the Enclave from Fallout 2, The chigs having a more asian look to them who fight humanity for more than just trespassing on "sacred soil" but I would keep the Native American connection as that was really underplayed in the series but quite firmly established.

The Pokemon anime, I want to remove Ash Ketchum because he's fucking annoying as shit.

Reboot Mario but make it realistic, the mario bros are from Brooklyn and Mario is either modelled off Bob Hoskins or Captain Lou Albano.

XCOM. Make it a hybrid between the original and the 2012 reboot. Better graphics and UI/quality of life improvements from 2012 coupled with the scale of the original. I really like the tone of the reboot, I think it has more personality than the original, but the original was better due to the amount of control you have over how you play. I'd scrap soldier classes and would instead have a system where you choose from a number of perks when a soldier levels up. This way specialization would develop over time at higher levels rather than from the first level. Mod support would be a top priority.

The biggest addition, however, would be that you could also play a campaign as the aliens. The game's campaign wouldn't just be XCOM responding to randomly generated alien activity, it would be the alien player doing something to further an actual objective and the XCOM player trying to figure out what that is in order to counter it. At first it might seem like the aliens are just doing random shit but as XCOM gains more info through research and experience they can understand the kinds of objectives the aliens have, then make meaningful choices to thwart them.

From the alien perspective you would see a lot of early success in the various regions you're operating in...but then all of a sudden you'd be facing some serious dudes who are very much sick of your shit. When aliens lose a battle XCOM will gain intel that makes them ever tougher to fight. You'd start to see a more coordinated response to your presence as the game went on.

The aliens wouldn't focus as much on individual soldier development, instead they would upgrade their logistics to support better quality troops while trying to learn more about earth in order to take it over. You'd start off deploying Sectoid teams in smaller UFOs but after upgrading your Mars base, and some other shit, you can start sending in teams of other aliens in larger ships to accomplish victory conditions.

Victory for XCOM is destroying the alien base on Mars, victory for the aliens is subverting enough countries that earth capitulates.

Duke Nukem. Just make it an unapologetically macho, tongue in cheek heap of fun and fuck the handwringers. Obviously we'd have to wrestle it from Gearbox's soy-soaked fingertips. Make the humor at everyone's expense. Make it a wry commentary on clown world.

Imagine him blowing a hole in some giant alien's noggin, walking in and saying "I'm living rent free in your head!"

Star Trek. I'd keep the original series but everything after that would have to stay true to the original aesthetic and atmosphere.

So in ST:TNG, I would make the male crew members more masculine, bigger horndogs, quicker to throw a punch, etc. The female crewmembers would all have to be sexy and feminine with micro mini dresses, stockings and go go boots.

I'd just get rid of all the faggotry and make them into good old school pulp sci fi adventures.

Star Trek.

I'm not a fan of most of TNG era trek, and new trek is well crap but one thing I liked from the TNG era and Nu Trek is Section 31, I have a idea for a series that's a spin off that shows that Section 31 is the real Star Fleet running around keeping the federation safe and the Crews we see in the shows we have are essentially the children let loose in a safe and sanitised play ground.

The crew or crews in the show would be flying around making first contact, kicking arse, sexually dominating every chair they meet in true Riker fashion.

Samurai Pizza Cats... but it's a boomer shooter and it'll play like Shadow Warrior. Not only that, but it'll run on the same engine.
