reddit General

Meanwhile on Reddit, getting downvoted and karma lowered affects how quickly you can respond to posts and can hide your posts.

And here you'll get tons of screeching assblasted replies which is why shitty zero effort trolls flourish on A&N. They don't even have to try.

Wow, in one day they banned the Internet's biggest gathering of unemployable fascist sympathizers bitching about Jews, and also The_Donald.
TBH, The_Donald had already been dead for months, and many had already migrated to thedonald.win, I think.

Suprised they’d go for GenderCritical though, I’d thought they’d at least leave some sort of containment zone for the non-complying feminists.

I’m really kinda sad about gendercritical. Sure, they are obnoxious, but it was one of the very first sources of wrongthink that I came upon after beginning to question trans orthodoxy that helped start me on my journey away from being a dogmatic leftoid (and also led me to this site, which had a further effect in that vein.) I’ve never even had a reddit account, either, but just being able to read it felt like stumbling across Soviet samizdat. Naturally, it had to go.

My money is on r/LGBdroptheT and r/rightwingLGBT staying for slightly longer, but on very thin ice. Staying for a bit because gay, but very thin ice because they don't like troons and Islam respectively.

Ah, fuck. r/smuggies was great.
UPDATE: r/rightwingLGBT has been banned.

2000 subs banned including The_Donald, GenderCritical, and ChapoTrapHouse.
>Banning T_D and CTH.

If there was any doubt that Reddit is now officially a corporate, former shell of itself today is the day where that's no longer the case. This is also exactly how you spawn offshoot sites. Remember what happened when 8chan got big for a few years because 4chan banned #GamerGate? Banning some of the most popular controversial subs is exactly how you ensure people move offsite and away from your rotting corpse of a website. The best part is they didn't just ban boomercons but they also shitcanned the far-left and TERFs.

Oh right, some of those subs like T_D and IP2 already moved offsite. They saw the shit that was coming and took action or were already banned (and knew that trying to make "backup" subs is futile because they WILL get banned too). There's Reddit clone scripts using the FOSS'd "old UI" Reddit had and that's what these sites run on. Anyone can start their own Reddit like just like how anyone can start their own imageboard.

The riots might have been some fucked up shit, but watching SA and now Reddit burn is an internet shitstorm one could only dream of. 2020 has so many crazy surprises to offset the bad things happening.

r/PoliticalCompassMemes is still standing and everyone there seem suprised and relieved by that. I was convinced they were a goner as well (now wait as they ban them later today). They've always been very critical of reddits policies, no matter what ideology they follow, and don't censor the edgier memes the rightwingers (or anyone, really) post there.

Sucks about ConsumeProduct tho, they had some nice spicy posts.
