It's pretty funny watching homeless dudes start fucking with these stupid things when they get bored after the morning rush hour. With as much theft, vandalism and outright destruction these things endure, I genuinely have no clue how the companies littering the streets with the damned things manage to stay in business.

The scooters themselves can't be all that cheap to build, there's infrastructure to manage the whole works and (if memory serves) they actually have to pay people bounties to go rescue the scooters when they go AWOL. They must be charging absolutely outrageous prices to legitimately use the things. Hard to believe the soy economy is enough to keep the operation afloat.

It's just techbro culture that keeps them going.

The rant is incredibly vitriolic and the author claims he has become depressed and suicidal because his friend is a pedo and also he was mean to him in minecraft one time lmao. He also says he fantasizes about strangling the artist to death every time he sees the silly image of fireman online.

That's the whole point of startup 90% of the time. Get an app idea, assemble "team", get graphic design and maybe innovate some aspect of the business that hasn't been done before, and if all goes well you'll get bought out for a cool mil by a bigger company that either
1) wants the rights to your innovation
2) wants to get rid of competition
3) wants to swallow up your established userbase
4) actually thinks its a good idea and wants to build your business without dealing with some pesky small time CEO in the way

The big difference though is downdoots don't get hidden here. And you don't get banned for being Downdooted. Which means hard core contrarians like @Hollywood Hulk Hogan can stick around to own the cons. And gain legend status for sticking to their guns.

Reddit, Twitter and Facebook however actively punish contrarians. They use Pavlovs reward/pain method to achieve compliance.

Wow so I actually have a LOT of knowledge on how these fucking shitty scooters work, because I had a friend in the industry and was basically her shoulder to cry on when she was hard at work in California with one of the companies.

First thing is that the damn things are zogged to hell with trackers and shit. Which I mean, okay is expected right? They aren't that expensive to build, according to my source each sets the company back about $500. They also don't have THAT long a shelf life. And given how the competition works, you can cycle out the good scooters to the highly competitive areas and the shitty ones (damaged or first gen) sent to shitty areas.

Before they move into any area they literally just drop fucking scooters off without telling anyone. You are supposed to need a permit to even start, but they don't fucking care. Maybe about 40 or so shitty, end of life scooters scattered around a downtown, and then you basically sit a fucking wait to see what happens. If the city comes down like a thunderbolt, or the homeless tear them to shreds, welp, whatever, those were falling apart anyway.

As for the retrieval, they are gps tracked and all scooters can just be marked when the time comes. People are payed a few bucks per scooter.

Cost wise? There's subscriptions I think, It's a little pricey but in the words of my friend "It's cheaper than a car and can probably outrun the homeless". I can't fucking stand the things, I feel like I'm gonna get run over like a fucking retard constantly. It would be great in a city that wasn't a fucking mess, but then why not just use a car right?
