This is quite the moral quandary. On the one hand, Reddit is an archetypal Silicon Valley groupthink commune that silences anyone who dares question "the message". On the other, their opponents are all unemployed trannies that are complaining it's harder to bulk powermod while doing their daily dilations. How can they feel important if they can't ban hundreds of literal-Nazis per hour?

Is there an outcome where both sides lose? Whatever the outcome I hope their IPO tanks.

A bunch of top subs reopened today so the mods could make a virtue-signaling post that would get to r/all and then closed themselves to new posts. They couldn't even go the full 2 days (not to mention this will increase traffic).

They're all copy-paste, here's the one from r/interestingasfuck. They weren't fast enough to stop comments and there's a good mix of people in there who have no idea what this is or don't agree with it, plus the ones in favor. I think this will ultimately go down very badly when the subs reopen.

If a redditor really wanted to make a mark on history (or at least get your name added to the reddit wikipedia article), you should commit suicide and blame it all on reddit taking away free access to the API. The more redditors that do it, the bigger the chance that the company will reverse their policy. Sanctioned Suicide is only a click away if you need any help.

Yeah that's kind of what I was getting at. The admins were willing to throw their principles aside if it meant more money. They've done it before.

It's not even the most popular trans-friendly space on reddit, or even on the internet. Maybe an indefinite closure will help them fix their brains.

I feel like their IPO tanking would be the outcome where both sides lose, no? (Although I don't get investors, how could an IPO be successful after the CEO publicly admits that the site has been in the red for years, all attempts to monetize unsuccessful?) After all, if the site is slowly sinking into obscurity, there's less nahtzees to moderate! Using moderators to segue into what I happened upon, noted Youtube app unfucker Revanced contributors are already working to patch out the need for an app access token for 3rd party apps, enabling them to be used after June 30th.(A) (Revanced Manager also has patches for the official reddit app, doesn't make it less shit but it does disable ads)

Hopefully trannyjannies are tech savvy enough to follow simple instructions. I can't wait for the inevitable cat and mouse game when this gets a bit more widespread, after all, hell hath no fury like a person who hates ads being shown ads.

I thought Steve was aware that anyone who cares about this would be no threat to anyone even if they somehow managed to stumble outside. Perhaps he's just trying to play up the victim angle for the media, or maybe he's worried that some sneaky doxers will find out more reddit employees are pedos as part of the "protest" and simply wants to preemptively discredit any accusations. Hard to say :thinking:
 
Always remember that the bullshit with reddit is primarily the fault of reddit moderators. The only reason reddit has gotten to be a shithole is because the jannies have already established that censoring people for petty political reasons is acceptable on their. These people have no right to complain about reddit.

the pron subreddits are the bread and butter to reddit, it seems they are the ones which the site cares the most about; if any protest would be effective it would be ones involving porn.
