Is there an outcome where both sides lose? Whatever the outcome I hope their IPO tanks.
I didn't know they were getting ready to release an IPO. Holy moly, talk about a way to set fire to your money.

Nobody likes Reddit. Not even Redditors like Reddit. The only people who do are people who use it as a free platform to promote their shady businesses, like Onlyfans whores and Kickstarters. When you've got a community that seems to just hate one another, and only ever worships entities clearly there just to bilk them out of their funds, you've got a true hellpit. And since those that bilk simps out of their cash don't actually provide any direct income to the site, why the fuck would I ever invest in it?

This is such a powerless gesture.
If administration wants, this would all stop right now lol.

The communities are at fault for using such a shit website (that is for profit) in the first place.
You can't even use the current layout to follow a thread since it branches into these shitty sub threads.
old.reddit is better (since it loads the content quicker) but still a horrendous mess.

Panic on this Mod sub r/modcoord, they're talking about an indefinite blackout and the thread is a mix of trolling and people posting "indefinite" about their tiny subs. They do NOT like the CEO's letter about how they aren't being impacted and seem to think that they won't be replaced.

This is so funny. The greasy unemployed shut-ins spend so much time hand wringing about "Nazis" and hicks in MAGA hats they never saw the greedy multinational corporation coming.

Because they're fucking stupid.

The faggy mods and the admins are one and the same, the admins just have a fiduciary interest in reddit, while they jannies are just autists.
They hide behind the unpaid tranny jannies to do things the site itself could potentially be sued for, like openly promoting pedophilia, banning any criticism of pedophiles, and hiding child grooming going on on the site.

The best thing that could happen is reddit not only fires the tranny jannies, but replaces them with AI moderation. Imagine the sheer level of coping, seething and dilating.

I know we're all having a grand ol' time gravedancing here, but it is worth noting there is one area in which reddit shines: collating information on niche interests. Granted they did so by absorbing every other niche forum in existence, but the fact remains if you can keep your head down and avoid conversation with reddit's wet-brained denizens or its janny pinkshirts, reddit remains an excellent depository on information on everything from HoI4 mods to wood carving with a chainsaw. If you have anything you care about, don't trust removeeddit or the way back machine to make a copy for you, back it up yourself. Save the pages wholesale, save it in notepad docs if you have to. And if you feel you can stomach it, get information on the Discords and other places if you're attached to any of the smaller communities. I've seen the hammer drop before, and trust me, it comes down hard and fast and without warning at all.

The spigot of free VC money is down to a trickle and we're on the precipice of seeing what happens when websites not owned by the Silicon Valley tech duumvirate have to start hustling for some cheddar. Everything I just said goes double for any other seemingly unprofitable web services that were also coasting on VC money. If it's not saved on a hard drive you control, it exists on a foundation of sand. In an unusually tectonically active area.

Reddit actually making me laugh for once

I'm aware, but let me put it this way: When Maoists and Stalinists fight, you don't root for one of them, you laugh at the misery of both. Reddit's admins are directly the reason why there are so many power mods, and I'm actually fairly certain at this point that some of them actually *are* paid on the downlow. After spez put his foot in his mouth editing posts on the_donald the admins have been mostly silent, and since then they've been able to brush aside every controversy by just doing what every other company in corporate America does.

By no means did reddit jannies hijack reddit away from the admins in any way, shape, or form. Anyone who followed reddit for awhile has known the admins have always had massive preferential treatment for social justice posters and that the admins themselves were heavily involved in such causes. Even if all of these tranny jannies had never been born, reddit would still be the same place it is today. Reddit.com is as organic a website as when CNN or Fox do the "Ask the candidates the questions!" thing with social media, they already have the questions, they just find someone who posted it. Reddit's admins go after top mods for communities they want to control until they get someone they like. And it's easy, but everything they do is so opaque. Nobody cares if someone there gets randomly banned with no stated reason (yes, it happens to controversial posters), who is going to question what penalties you get? You appeal a ban, they'll wait out the length of the ban to overturn it. You have no idea how many people have their 7 day ban overturned on the 7th day. It's done on purpose, if not automated already. They pull all sorts tricks to seem like an impartial outlet when they've been rigging the deck since the outset.

Furthermore, reddit jannies cannot sitewide ban, and if you haven't noticed, it's incredibly easy to get banned from reddit these days. In the old days it was actually kind of hard, and now even your random person off the street experiences getting banned on reddit regularly. It's hard to keep an account alive on reddit if you're not part of the young progressive movement they want on the site.
