If you leave a subreddit without and Skynet levels of censorship for more than a few minutes organic users actually start shitting on trannies, making edgy jokes, sharing forbidden statistics on sensitive topics and calling mods faggots and all those would get organically upvoted too. The subreddit for my country has like 50k members but its always the same small group of mods and soy faggots posting because of course they'll ban or downvote anyone else.

Allowing freedom of speech increases the ammount of real users posting and engaging with each other but advertisers and propagandist can't use the site anymore. imagine john oliver doing and AMA and the top comment be someone calling them a soyboy faggot lol

I was thinking about why they just don't do this, and what if they refuse to leave because it would reveal how small these subs really are? Both in size of human population and community strength. It would be a tremendous blow to the mods seeing that they've fostered a community of 90% bots and 10% atomized individuals that can't hold a conversation beyond upboats, wholesome chungus, fuck le spez. It might even push these trannies over the edge seeing that doing it for free doesn't make any difference at all.

The first reason that comes to my head is because they're lazy. Null jumps though hundreds of hoops to keep this place chugging along, but if you asked a redditor to do the bare minimum and just rent out hosting from someone else and run an open source reddit clone. This would be trivial to anyone who is willing to expend a little effort, but reddit jannies are a special breed. The reason they become jannies in the first place is because they are used to accomplishing nothing in life it's the easiest way to feel a sense of authority.

I was actually thinking of switching my htpc to Ubuntu (slowly figuring out the problems that prevented me from doing so) and I could install LemmyBB or some other bbbulletin server on it. I'd probably limit it to family though, using it for recipes and pictures and such.

Reddit caters to a user base of lazy, highly egotistical, low IQ individuals. Most reddit users are barely literate enough in technology to use a computer to play video games. Asking them to make their own forum is a gargantuan effort to them. The mods are not there to run their own forum either, they're there for the trip from the miniscule amount of power they have.

Reddit has convinced a majority of these retards that small isolated forums are bad. Because they can't post marvel memes, discuss grooming kids into removing their genitalia, and discuss "niche" topics on a small forum like they can on a multi-community site. They want the diversity and easy platform Reddit provides them. Just like eurofag countries like the diversity Africans and Muslims from shit hole countries provide.

I think the main appeal of Reddit isn't the topics themselves, it's getting to discuss them with Redditors. Fragmenting into niche sites would defeat the whole point.
