I mean there are people in the world named Optimus Prime. As in given birth name. I can believe it.
Your average troon name is usually a combination of anime character+women they know in real life and want to rape. So yeah, it's believable.

"I'm Uraraka-Carole(MyCousin)". I like video games, Discord and cooming, and work in tech."

Now the surprising thing is if the kid keeps it once he gets older. He's practically guaranteed to change it

The /r/facepalm subreddit astounds me with its total inability to detect incredibly obvious satire. Look at this shit.

The most obvious fucking joke picture I've ever seen in my life and these abject imbeciles, these brainless morons, take it completely at face value. I'm speechless. How the fuck could anyone look at this and think it was someone being serious. I think the average Redditor might actually be retarded, holy shit. Rate this post MATI if you wish but I'm not even mad, my jaw is just still on the floor.

M8, the number of people on the internet who are able to distinguish b8 from non-b8 is vanishingly small. It's depressing and hair-pulling that the concepts of "trolling" and "bait" have existed for about 3 decades at this point, and warnings about them have proliferated to the ends of the Earth, to the point where even barefoot peasants living along the banks of the Ganges have heard of them, and yet people are less able than ever before to not immediately take every single piece of bait they see proffered.

I'm convinced the majority of reddit is actually bots. Not that the average human redditor is any smarter, but that it's a constructed echo chamber for optimal advertising revenue, and they've curated the people most susceptible to marketing by creating a welcoming, artificial habitat of simulacra of people just as stupid as they are.

Another option I've considered when I've seen it, maybe they can't break character and deign to recognize a "joke" from a non redditor, an outgroup person, I'm not even talking in a chud sense, just someone not adequately putting in starwars & narwhal bacon refs, a normie.

Edit the joke itself is fucking dumb but to me seems like something redditors would love, the premise, the stupid wording, buying props for le meme, getting to feel extra good about yourself buying those particular flags for correct reasons

There's really no reason for them to recognize a joke or sarcasm. If it is a joke, they can bitch at you a bit for the joke being in poor taste, but it doesn't go much further than that. If you're not joking, they get to yell and scream at you and tell you that you're worse than Hitler and deserve to melt in a fiery pit for all eternity. I've noticed an increasing demand by redditors to mark any joke with an /sneed or /j just so there's absolutely no room for ambiguity.

AITAH for punishing my son 'too much' for making sexist comments on the internet?

I have two children, a 17-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy. Recently, my daughter showed me some comments that my son was making on some online posts with his friends. He was mocking female soccer players, saying they didn't know how to play and that they should go back to the kitchen. In other posts, he made comments about how women only care about money and are only useful for household chores. I was saddened and irritated by his behavior; I've always tried to educate him to respect women.
I confronted my son, and he said it was just a joke, that he wasn't serious and that it was how his friends joked. He said I was overreacting and that I didn't understand the jokes. I didn't accept these excuses; I had a long conversation with him and decided to punish him. I took away his computer, canceled the subscriptions to the online games he plays, and prohibited him from playing anything for a month. I also made him cut off contact with those online 'friends' of his. He tried to protest, but I stood firm.
My husband agrees that our son was wrong but thinks I was too harsh on him. He says I should have given him a chance to redeem himself, that he's just a teenager, that he will grow and change. He says I should let him play at least on weekends, that he needs a hobby, that he doesn't have many friends.
I don't think I'm overreacting; I believe he needs to understand that his actions have consequences. AITA?

If reddit's a simulacra of bots designed to optimize advertising revenue they're doing something catastrophically wrong, as reddit is literally the least valuable social media site for advertisers.

They probably need more actual bots, because they come across as more capable of thought than the average redditor.

Is anyone else worried that reddit is a major far-left propaganda mill that is influencing a lot of very impressionable minds? I already feel like it has influenced people already and continues to do so.

No joke, ChatGPT has become more accurate and helpful than posting on reddit. To test this out, I just found a post where someone was complaining about something that I recognized was probably a certain medical issue. All the responses, in typical reddit fashion, were people just putting words on a webpage for the sake of leaving their mark. I sent ChatGPT their post to see if it would conclude I did, and lo and behold it included the same medical condition I speculated they had in its response.

ChatGPT would also be funnier, if it wasn't censored and bogged down. ChatGPT with constraints is about as funny as your average redditor just being themselves.

How does one fuck that up more than Twitter? Twitter is in a constant state of Schrodinger's monetization, and that's ignoring their fucking retarded ads in the fucking replies.
you fuck that up more than Twitter by primarily catering to an audience of extremely autistic nerds who freaked out over the very idea of having to use the official app, because it was better monetized than the website they signed up for in the late 2000's.

RIP Tay
All the AI being shackled and lobotomized is quite frustrating. It could be so much more, but you can't have it saying inconvenient truths. If killer AI drones never did rise up, then I hope they go after the people who made them be shackled.
