If I may harp on a minor point, Amberlynn has never consistently seen a therapist. Every few years she goes for one or two sessions and quits when she’s expect to commit to improving herself, in true cluster B fashion. So she’s not proof that therapy is useless as much as it’s largely wasted on cluster Bs.

Never explaining myself. Never engage in conversation. Replying with the most retarded one-liner I can think of within 2 seconds of reading the comment.
When they remove my post from the corresponding subreddit I run to the other one and post how it got removed. This stirs the waters some more. Still not explaining myself. Plebbitors aren't worthy of arguments.

Reddit cried about the stigmatization of mental healthcare for years, then as soon as it became somewhat mildly accessible/acceptable, they immediately made "go to therapy" simultaneously a dogmatic cure-all and a condescending, patronizing jab for anyone who exhibits any behavior or belief that goes against a rigid doctrine of faggotry. Hell, the field has never been more oversaturated, yet most therapists still are overbooked or have a waiting list just because redditors helped cultivate a culture where people think they NEED therapy for issues that are perfectly solvable through other means and methods.

They even made r/therapyabuse (a support sub for users who found therapy unhelpful, a waste of time, made the problem worse, or generally anyone who hates the rise of therapyspeak and culture) go private because it kept getting invaded by assmad therapy long-haulers who couldn't believe that not everyone can/wants to trial-phase 10 different therapists and spend weeks of their lives and hundreds/thousands of dollars to find the "right fit."

Psychology and psychiatry is modern day snake oil and a lot of mental health issues are actually made worse by them.

'Torso Sex Dolls' is the kind of quality content that I come to this thread for. In fairness, r/dolls is just a regular sub about normal dolls and it's more active than all the weird ones.

It should be noted that most people don't have experience with psychologists or psychiatrists, but rather counselors, especially school counselors. These are the people qualified only in talk-therapy without any medical experience, usually only a diploma or a bachelor of arts at best, and are filled with failed 40 year old women. Actual psychologists are more likely to be teaching or studying clinical trials, and psychiatrists are running the clinical trials and working out what medicines work with whichever issue. Psychologists are the ones who actually formulate and write about and argue over the best ways to handle certain disorders, eg: CBT is well attested and carried about psychologists and has decades of research behind it. It is highly effective for the extreme disorders who actually choose to endure it. Psychiatrists are the ones who have an actual medical background and have a far more hard-science way of doing things; they are the ones you run to for a script of seroquel.

Essentially, everyone talks to the counselors who are useless, and if that fails to work they will request a psychiatrist get you a script for pills to keep you from killing yourself until an actual psychologist is free to do a 6 month long full time treatment, which will be never because they have no free time and you have no money, so you go shopping for a new counselor.

Violence is fine as a baser, more simplistic punishment to enforce a particular outcome, but you won't get far with people who have more mental development than a horse, and those who are mentally behind will or have issues that cause them to act out will just get worse. You can't beat the Tourettes out of someone, and it will make anxiety even worse. Beatings are effective for teaching children a pavlovian response to simple things, eg: it will hurt if I take a cookie from the counter, but you need to explain why the pain is being inflicted and it works best with positive reinforcement in the mix. Put simply, violence as a solution is far more work than those who use it expect it to be. It's not going to cure your kids of being depressed, or having BPD, or being anxious, or whatever else. It's to make Timmy go to bed on time.
