I feel like "Does it interfere with your life?" is a good litmus test, but unfortunately that's something that can't be seen from the outside either.I have sympathy for people with autism. It's a debilitating non-visual disability so I'm sure autistic people have it tough but some people are definitely jumping on the bandwagon for instant access to protected status and a support system which ruins public perception for people who genuinely struggle.
If someone claims to have sensory issues or whatever, but then goes and spends their vacations doing things like going to Disneyworld, I'm gonna raise an eyebrow.
