Cat sub where all links are banned somehow got a post with 40K upvotes about banning twitter links. Average post is under 1K upvotes.

It won't stick. I give it maybe 2 weeks before we see all these subreddits allow Xitter posts again.

First off, they've got remarkably low persistence. Reddit changed their API pricing and they did a 3-day blackout thinking that would change anything (note that they announced ahead of time that it was only like 3 days, they didn't make it indefinite).

Second though, the benefit of Reddit for many is that it is able to collate information from many places together, and a lot of key information is often disseminated via Xitter. If you ban Xitter links then you're massively affecting the quality of the site for very little actual benefit. Casual users who aren't all-in on this flavour-of-the-week bullshit will just see that "subreddit was good but now it keeps having large amounts of information missing" and leave.

If they stick to the ban and people leave, then Reddit administration is going to do what they did back in the API blackout days and threaten to kick off mods and replace them with ones that allow Xitter posts so they can prevent user exodus to alternate platforms and recover their stock price.

There's no scenario I can see where the X ban remains permanent.

I’d hate to be his spawn. Used as leverage for an argument about the consequences to his own actions. When I’m abroad I don’t even watch the news for America I watch the local news and translate the little I can.
 
So many subreddits are just content aggregators for screenshots of posts on X at this point. Maybe this astroturfed ban will finally make them post real content but probably not.

I think it's really interesting that Elon Musk is an autistic retard but has somehow managed to bumble into making Twitter even bigger than it was before due to the sheer incompetence of all of his enemies.

I think most of them are still allowing twitter screenshots, which typically were what was posted there anyway, so basically banning twitter links has zero affect on the content.

This will end up being just as much of a nothing burger as the Reddit boycott when they tried to restrict third party apps. In 3 weeks they’ll start removing these restrictions because BlueSky is somehow an even worse platform that Xitter is, and because most subreddits are just curated Xitter feeds (or porn) now.

Twitter has been run by retards since when Dorsey owned it, and yet it’s somehow managed to stay afloat and even grow. I’m convinced Elon could make it so that it showed you 20 minutes of cartel gore before you could log in and it would grow in size. I don’t like the man but I have a begrudging respect at how he can continuously fall upwards.

Moreover, Facebook links will not be allowed as Mark Zuckerburg has given up on limiting content that has not been fact-checked by CIA experts. Important elections are coming up and he is allowing the platform to be filled with malinformation from Slovakia, Laos, and Ireland.

We have also decided to ban links to TikTok as it is controlled by President Xi who looks like a Yellow Bear with more slanted eyes (we are antiracist btw).

This subreddit is about how Latino men fell for Drumpf's machismo and deserve to be put in camps for not voting for decency. It is not a place for Nazi sympathizers, propaganda from genetically inferior Russian scum, or lies (including true information not appropriately contextualized by independent fact-checkers).

Note: This not about politics but life or death for marginalized folx, so the comments section on this post will be closed. Defending literal Nazis by questioning or acknowledging this decision elsewhere in the sub is a permanent ban.
 
using reddit makes me MATI and i can only stand it for like 15 minutes before I have to close it. if I could have an account and call people retarded niggers it would be better but alas I cant
 
Yeah, the Twitter ban will last less than a month. Think the admins will step in and force it to stop since it slows down content, which means less reasons to use the site, which means less $.
