Amazingly, at this point (~6 hours later) most of the top comments/threads are actually quite reasonable. The top few in controversial (nearly always the correct takes) are in the positive updoots, with angry tranny replies in the negative. It feels so weird but with such... relief? Why wasn't this locked down by the tranny jannies for hate speech by now? Why aren't the "correct" takes botted to the top? So many questions.

It probably is fake, being AITAH and all, but honestly I can see almost the entire scenario actually happening to some upper class whitebread family. $1.2 mil (in mid 2000s dollars no less) seems a bit much but there certainly is jewelry worth that much and more floating around various families' dragon hoards. I guess that's one of the goals of creative writing (or creative AI prompts) in those subs... test your limits and see what people are willing to believe.

But anyway, again, it's AITAH. I'd bet at least a dollar it's fake af because of course it is.

I hope one of these idiots do try it, with the strict stipulation that it's unsuccessful with absolutely no casualties/injuries and the janny admins can't sweep it in time for the attack to be directly linked to Reddit, giving the impetus for investigating this site.

It's time for Spez to be hauled in front of Congress to explain himself and his admins for sitting idly by while almost purposefully making this site a misery skinnerbox that resembles an insane asylum. If the piece of shit is going to retire to Reddit Island with his billions after he plans to sell off his Reddit shares, he at least needs to work for it for once and making him sweat while being grilled would at least provide plenty of popcorn entertainment.

This site has gotten so radical, so insane, to the point that it's become worrisome. It absolutely needs to be investigated before these fat dysgenic looking fucks eventually get stirred up enough to finally go outside for once and start murdering people.
 
It's a real shame what has happened to Reddit over the years. The front page is a cesspit of slop, astro-turfed content, and boomer facebook-tier posts.

If you really know where to look and can find the micro subreddits, there's still some elite level information on various niche topics you'll struggle to find anywhere else. It's also one of the last sites in the world that can provide useful information from a google search, especially for anything somewhat controversial, since most dedicated blogs/forums that cover these topics are wiped from google now.

Personally, I still use it for some of these hyper niche subreddits, but who knows how long they will last before some power-user reports them for wrongthink.

I imagine this will stick for a month before everyone gets so annoyed it gets repealed, or people just start ignoring it and the Mods just don't enforce the rule anymore.

In contrast, and much to my shock, r/NASCAR has announced there will be no ban on links/content from Twitter.

I was telling someone about the Twitter bans on Reddit because she had heard nothing of it because she doesn't follow lib subs she says. She checked r/xxfitness (3 million subscribers) and was like see they're cool, no ban. Anyway I posted a thread asking them not to support Nazis and now it's an official Twitter ban. It took like 3 minutes for a jannie to fix (archive)​

epilogue: lol a few top level comments seething that I don't even post there and am not a woman got deleted and banned and someone in the jannie response got banned too

The timestamps are 2:03:29 on the post and 2:09:36 on the janitor response, so more like 6 minutes than 3. but still...
Also note the -449 on someone pointing out that nobody posts links to twitter anyway. They ban this person for not posting on the sub even though /u/fishyflowermerchant, the account requesting the twitter ban, doesn't have a posting history there either. Very authentic behavior

Ever since the recent sexual assault allegations against Neil Gaiman (see thread), I've been peeking in on subreddits such as /r/neilgaiman to see their reactions. Not surprisingly, the community quickly turned on him, and they are simply shocked that such an outspoken male feminist would turn out to be a predator. The fan community on Reddit is of course extremely woke; many compared this situation to discovering J. K. Rowling's troon-unfriendly views.

Several Redditors have Gaiman-themed tattoos or who named their children after Gaiman characters, and now are struggling with what to do.

Ever since Luigi went Sicilian on that C-suite fellow there have been nonstop blatant calls for violence on most subs, sometimes literally "I hope this guy gets shot too" and the like. I'm annoyed at the jannies not sweeping up like they should but optimistic in how many visits from the feds their insubordination might lead to. What are the odds a few weeks from now the frontpage gets flooded with "HELP THE FBI CALLED MY MOM" and "Will a federal offense make me lose my job at Walmart?" threads?
