It is quite funny that Canadians are so bereft of literature that Handmaid’s Tale is trotted out as one of their most acclaimed works. German lit has Goethe and Kafka, France has Balzac and Celine, Russia has Dostoyevsky and Tolstoy, America has Faulkner and Hemingway…and this is what Canada has.
The british intentionally structured post-revolutionary canada to be without a distinct culture so that they wouldn't have to deal with yet another rebellion. I don't wanna be harsh on canadians, but their whole country was designed to not have a distinct culture, national ethos nor literary tradition. To this effect, Shakespeare is what canadians are supposed to say is their greatest literary accomplishment.

Well, there's The Bear...

Tl;dr white girls fuck bears

No seriously, it's about a leaf being raped until she loves it by a literal bear, as in the animal.

The qrd on the story is more or less that excessive pollution caused an infertility crisis. During this crisis, a radical protestant sect was able to take over the US. During this, this sect illegalized certain sins against chastity, and effectively go around arresting women in violation of these laws, assigning them to party leaders as sex slaves in the hopes to increase fertility.

So, I've read snippets of it. it's not Terrible, and it's not like a sperg out manifesto. Still retarded as shit, and the plot is unrealistic (which flies over peoples head when they see the show), but it's not badly written at all.

I understand that perhaps anything can happen in fiction, but why would a major cult assign women as sex slaves to ones in power, if they are against violation of chastity? Is it supposed to be a show of hypocricy, or they marry the women to the men before they become enslaved? The fact that I'm questioning it right away means the concept is convoluted. Canadians must be feeling major petty anger at the Americans, to write books like this. Or the author had a forced breeding fetish, I heard that hypothesis:

Also LOL at the bear rape book - what is it with Canadians and rape?

TikTok, reddit, whatever else, it's all made to suppress opinions that are against the whatever-agenda. Controlling what gets seen in reddit and what doesn't is like herding cattle.

Peak Redditor moment…

A normal person wandered onto Reddit for whatever reason, and has a problem… His fiancé doesn’t like that he has developed an interest in religion!

Sounds like a normal problem. A fiance who doesn’t like that her partner isn’t the exact same person he was a decade ago… Maybe incompatibility?

Nah, you see, it’s all Trumps fault!

“Muh Handmaids Tale! Muh Marvel slop!”

Redditors aren’t people. They’re cattle or NPC’s at best (groomers at worst) who are unable to perceive reality unless it’s spoon fed through some capeshit or slop on Netflix.

Congress needs to pass a law that makes murdering Redditors punishable by a hefty fine or community service, instead of jail time. They’re clearly not conscious, self aware human beings. Half of them probably couldn’t pass a Turing test unless it was based on SW or some Netflix goyslop.
It’s actually despicable what his fiance is doing and those redditors replies too atheists are often ironically religious about their irreligiosity!

It's the story of Abraham that is used in Handmaid's Tale as a justification. The wife of Abraham gave him her slave to rape and bear a child, even though the moral of the story is that the wife just had to wait until god granted her a pregnancy. Leaders (religious or otherwise) were always hypocritical, i.e. kings and their mistresses or catholic priests and their servants, it's the most realistic part of the story. Also very realistic, the powerful hoarding the resources (here: fertile women) for themselves. The joke of the story?
The commanders are infertile. If a handmaid gets pregnant it's often by someone else.
The author used mostly Iran as an inspiration, the book was released in the mid 80ies, the iranian revolution happened in 1979.

It sounds even more underwhelming now.

Christianity is literally several steps up from its contemporaries in regards to its treatment of women, what with how Jesus was all-in on "Treat women as well as you treat men" and "Women can actually guide men on their path to salvation". But here I am, having actually read His book and not just read a bunch of fedora-tipper talking points.
Note how it's always Christianity with them

Too indoctrinated, or scared, to make fun of other religions, so they go for one that is least likely to fight back when attacked
