I was reading a few posts in certain sports subreddits earlier, and it's incredible how much of a parody of itself the site has become. Entirely apolitical subjects and news being flooded with people making allusions to Trump, Star Wars and Harry Potter (and the latter two circled back to Trump). Dislike someone in sports? he must be VoldeTrump. These people have nothing else in mind other than virtue signal and preach to the choir constantly, relentlessly trying to remind the world how much of a good redditor they are by bringing up the subjects that make others applaud. Can't enjoy a bit of leisure without having TRUMP VOLDEMORT TRUMP VOLDEMORT TRUMP living rent free in their heads 24/7.

Prior to chat GPT and even reddit accounts being valuable enough to age and sell to astroturfers, there were still creative writer types all over different reddit subs seemingly doing it just for fun. Other people treat karma farming as a game just to make number go up. The unidan guy pretended to be an expert in every facet of every science just because he enjoyed redditors worshiping him as le heckin science man. If there's none of the more common explanations fit, there's always just "people are weird". Some people really do just go onto the Internet and tell lies with no motives beyond their own enjoyment.

I thought Unidan was basically an expert on crows and knew a lot of other stuff about biology. His fall from grace was when he was using multiple accounts to make fake updoots so he got banned after making some cringe post about the difference between jackdaws and crows.

The fact that people regularly still fall for GPT's default

layout is honestly just incredible. Redditors don't even have the excuse of "ooh old people can't see AI". Something's very wrong with these people on a basic level.

This is the 1-3-1 essay format that was drilled into our heads in middle school. You write an introduction, three paragraphs supporting the thesis from your intro, then a conclusion that wraps things up.

Basically a big portion of going to public school was taking multiple standardized tests every year to make the testing companies richer. I remember there was a state test with an essay that was graded on a scale of 1 to 6, with 6 being the best. You were expected to write an essay based on a prompt. The test itself doesn't say it, but our teachers made it very clear that a 1-3-1 essay was expected. My class got lots of 4's and 5's and the only 6 in the district.

One of the test prep materials gave example essays responding to a prompt along the lines of "write an essay explaining why smoking is bad. The 6 basically sounded like a ChatGPT response. The 1 was something like "my sister fold she smoker alot" and I never really understood that one.

I love the fact the comment saying "it's just Reddit, chill out it's not like anyone is getting hurt" got downvoted. It's quintessential Reddit behavior. I've got no idea what this meme is but if it's triggering Redditors that much by just being repeated I am all for it. It reminds me of my parents repeating blatantly false facts just to wind us up as kids.

That's a botted subreddit. I want to believe it's a botted subreddit. This is a botted subreddit and I will not be gaslit further that it's not. A YouTuber made a video on it and included some interesting things.

One such being the strangely high count of online members compared to the overall numbers. (Though, looking at it now, it's just 59 online. I wonder why's that, though.)

Not to mention posts getting upvotes in levels that usually subreddits in the 100K+ to 1M+ achieves, especially one's gaining thousands in mere hours, which is impossible to achieve in a subreddit of 51k+ members.

I feel these are the most possible cases that this a botted subreddit. Let me breathe in my hopium because my God, the guy they hate so much gets more coverage, infamy, reddit posts and attention than any other president in history. Reddit only fosters these communities as long as it's a figure or event they agree to hate on.

I've always been fascinated with why Reddit is constantly and consistently on top of Google Search engines since a couple of years back. I thought it might be a form of censorship as I barely ever see any other forums except quora.

But apparently, according to their competitor bing and its AI, Google has entered into a contractual monetization agreement to feed you Reddit slop when ever you search for anything above and beyond any other site.

Its slightly old news but new to me. Maybe for you too.

(it came up since Im doing research for a project and I didn't even query the AI about it directly. Here's to hoping AI's have feels which we can exploit against them)






You're not even told it's an advert yet it's probably all an advert. It doesnt explicitly here state that Google then promotes the content. But I'm sure that's part of the quid pro quo of blocking other search engines from crawling it by scewing the algorithm to 11 to favour Reddit. Otherwise what's in it for Reddit?

Another reason is that reddit is usually the only place with an answer for obscure tech questions since they killed forum culture and Discord is impossible to search. If I'm having trouble installing an old piece of software there's almost always a years old reddit post that answers my question.
