These people never help themselves. I'm not saying depression is easy to tackle, but Christ, their dad was trying to point out their attitude problem is part of the cause of their misery, and they refuse to listen. LLMs could probably help in therapy, but they'd need to be retrained to not be so affirming, and only used in a limited capacity (especially since subtext and visual cues are hard for even humans to recognize). I think that would work mostly because a lot of people's issues stem from a disagreement with reality, so common advice can go a long way to solving their issues.
