If Islam didn't have to contend with an older, popular religion that held dogs as sacred, I doubt those unusual Islamic "laws" about dogs would exist.
Ha, so it's like how Christmas trees are only a thing because the roman emperors needed to appease old pagan traditions to keep down unrest after the empire officially adopted Christianity. It's probably true for more religious rules than not that they just came to be for short-term political reasons.

Christmas trees have only been a thing for a few hundred years

Christmas trees aren't recorded until about 1600.

I guess I'm misinformed then. I thought tree worship was some germanic pagan thing. Maybe I'm thinking of that weird tradition where a pine tree is put on top of a building under construction so the building can absorb its life force? I'm not sure.

Enjoy your cheap plastic life.

What are spinners? There's only kind of spinner I can remember on the internet:

They're little plastic toys that you spin between your fingers. Since Autism is as Autism does, a community has formed for them that is ridiculously elitist for some reason.

Reddit's rules were supposedly changed so you can't ban a user from subreddit X for something they posted in subreddit Y. As you might guess, the moderators are taking this new rule very seriously and making hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha nah just kidding. The usual suspects are still at it, and dedicated "whine about Reddit" subreddit /r/subredditcancer is on the case.

In particular, 2X is really ban happy.

/r/TwoXChromosomes/ using autoban bots to ban anyone who posts in certain subreddits (/r/pussypass and /r/pussypassdenied)

I posted an ad from craigslist in funnyandsad, hours later got banned from TwoX. (/r/funnyandsad)

I got banned from /r/2X within a minute of commenting on gamergate in /r/news. I haven't posted in /r/2X in like a year (/r/news)

And a few others

r/OffMyChest using ban-bot to preemptively ban for using wrongthink subreddits (/r/KotakuinAction)

Mod of r/MarchAgainstTrump confirms Banning ALL Trump supporters... because they aren't allowed in r/popular anymore

r/longdistance autobans for participation in other subs (/r/hapas)
