Some clearly SJW Redditor had thought that Calvin and Hobbes "does NOT hold up", because Calvin is "misogynist" and there is "sexism" and "body shaming" in it. Even a number of other Redditors in the thread pointed out that Calvin isn't supposed to be a role model anyway, and at least one was skeptical of those "sexism" or "body shaming" claims.

Redditors do that with everything/everyone they hate. For Reddit, it's not enough to simply dislike something/someone, they need to justify it to themselves by making it seem morally righteous to dislike the things they dislike. They work themselves into an emotional froth and make themselves look like unhinged fools, just for updoots. At least the ones that aren't bots.

That's just a how emotionally incontinent midwits work. You see it all the time in gaming discussions. Games are one of two things:

1. Peak human achievement, art above art, of unprecedented importance and intellectual value, not to mention endlessly replayable and completely immune to being boring even for a second, even after ten billion playthroughs
2. Literal dog shit pressed into a disc and then force fed to the unwitting player, an experience a hundred times worse than any torture real or imaginary, can destroy a human soul just by thinking about it, responsible for every genocide in human history

People like this are incapable of thinking in anything but cartoonish extremes.

I used to quell my rapidly increasing disdain for humanity by telling myself that everyone acting like this is just 14 years old and they'll grow out of it, but more often than not these people are in their 20s. They absolutely can and should know better, but somehow they don't.

If it is the algorithm is really bad because I get ads for capeshit related movies and games when I haven't seen an actual super hero movie since the Dark Knight came out like 20 years ago. I also get ads for the Washington post a comically biased left-wing outlet Reddit loves but I would not use if you paid me to. Weird medications are big too like for "Ingrezza" which is used to treat tics or some shit? I have seen some shit in my day but this is fucking egregious. Every range hood I’ve seen does indeed have a massive 5-7 inch knockout in addition to the 4”x10” boot knockout but no one uses the giant knockout, you’re meant to install the boot. There’s even a bulkhead above the upper cabinets where he could’ve run a 4 inch duct. Then he would have stubbed out into the soffits and could have downturned the duct and had the vent on the soffits.

This looks like an apprentice that got his first construction job and decided he knows it all. I am not sure how you can present yourself as a self-described carpenter with a hack job like that. He chose the most expensive, most destructive, least efficient way to do this job and I promise you that giant wooden box on that 17.89 degree downturned 7 inch duct is hiding a horrible joint covered in a whole roll of foil tape. This is so embarrassing and wasteful that I’m going to harass an apprentice next week just for having seen this.

Today's political correctness has killed any capacity to lampoon childhood sexism in kid-friendly media. Even Jimmy Neutron depicted a toxic schism between genders. These themes added conflict for storytelling and comedic potential. The message was always that both sides were wrong for taking these labels so seriously.

I can see how a very young child might be unable to process a protagonist as flawed in fiction. However, after the age of 5, I would expect a parent to be able to explain to them that Calvin regularly misbehaves and isn't a perfect role model.
