Some of these people make a point about how nobody in the west is changing their economic strategy or the culture. Others bring up how women now have a choice to further their education and careers. Even so, why complain about lower population but do nothing to change the culture then if its causing problems?

I feel like the first comment brings up a point. Everyone is blaming the economy and shit being expensive to raise kids and yet this never stopped people from poorer country having kids. Most are now admitting it has nothing to do with the economy.

These people talk about how its good that people are having a choice to not have kids but then they complain about how we need mass immigration because the economy will collapse. This is why I can't stand the reddit type of leftist and this left wing culture. Also, the comment below that's blaming the far right because migrants are the only ones "saving" the economies of Europe. All these people care about is the "big line" going up. They don't care about Europe or its people.

There was a point in time when AskReddit wasn't like this.

It's always obvious when people have no real point because they just resort to vague generalities. If you had evidence that Trump raped a minor, that'd be the headline, obviously. Instead, it's "Trump's name is in files" "Trump linked to victim" "Trump knew about Epstein girls".

They even went so far as to redact previously unredacted material pertaining to a victim, Virginia Giuffre, that publicly spoke about her experience and therefore wouldn't require redaction anyways. Why could that possibly be? Why make your accusations less specific?

Oh, I know: Because she explicitly exonerated Trump and anyone who followed up on the story with something as simple as a Google search "Giuffre + Trump" would find that out. So, again, everything is supposed to stay in high-level vague, but ominous sounding, generalities.

The line "I protect the family" is actually from her song "Father Figure" which is about Scott Borchetta, who founded her old label Big Machine, and is meant to portray him as some sort of mafia don and has lots of mob-sounding lines like "You remind me of a younger me, I saw potential. I'll be your father figure. I drink that brown liquor. I can make deals with the devil because my dick's bigger." I don't listen to their music but reading about Healy you learn that he put Greta Thunberg on one of his albums, got a Malaysian music festival shut down by kissing another guy to protest their anti-gay laws, and made his jokes on, you know, a Bernie bro podcast, but they still call him "racist," "Nazi," "neo-Nazi," etc. and called Taylor those things in 2023 by association. People think he dumped Taylor because he and his bandmates and their families were getting death threats over it.

And Tay-Tay is a proud Childless Cat Lady who endorsed Kamala and used to rail against Trump on Twitter and had a pooner as the love interest in one of her music videos. Completely random spergpost, but I don't know where else to post this observation to. Reddit is truly an alternate reality, and the reddit NASCAR community is possibly the most interesting case study in that. I know most of you here don't enjoy watching cars go in circles for hours on end, so let me explain. The NASCAR reddit fanbase and the actual NASCAR fans you talk to in real life are so different they may as well be different species. A good example you might be aware of is the driver Kyle Larson, who jokingly said the Nigger word on iRacing during covid and got canceled, then un-canceled back in to the sport. As you can imagine, to reddit, this means he is now Satan. Everyone on the NASCAR subreddit acts like Kyle Larson is bad for the sport, like he drives business away by his mere presence. They say how he's a source of shame, and the "reason I can't tell people I like NASCAR". When he wins, every comment is whining about how the racist is in victory lane, when he crashes they all cheer. But in the real world, Kyle Larson actually sells more merchandise each year than any other driver - That's a proven statistic. He gets nothing but cheers when he wins, and if you go to a race you'll see a sea of people wearing his hat or shirt. Without him, I genuinely think NASCAR takes a huge financial hit because his fans would follow him wherever he went and leave NASCAR behind.

Another funny example of them living in a delusion I personally experienced was when a friend brought me to a race. A certain driver they don't like took the lead, and on the reddit thread there were a flood of comments saying that NBC was "piping in fake cheers". They said that in ernest. But I was there, and I can tell you the cheers were very real and very deafening. They cannot comprehend that a driver might actually be popular outside of their strange little bubble.

Oh, and then there's this post which inspired this little spergout. If this car showed up to a race IRL, the driver and team would need security because most every good ol' boy would be jumping pit wall to fight and he'd be mocked relentlessly by everyone else. But on reddit? 300 upvotes. No, it's not a joke, the poster is a self identified commie. What an interesting dichotomy.

I mean, think about it, most of the people who live in first-world conditions have never had to slaughter or hunt an animal a day in their lives. The animals they interact with are considered to be pets and companions. Cute animal videos are also very popular online and would encourage people to see all animals as these cute critters who deserve all the love in the world.

I mean, even dangerous animals like tigers or jaguars are often seen as “cute” nowadays and would not have been seen the same way by ancient people.

I know vegetarianism exists in third world countries like India, but even those societies see animals as a source of food (like milk).

I’ve seen some people make the argument that people of lower classes in ancient times had less access to meat than people do today and that meat was a luxury for many people. I think that this is the case for many people in third world countries as well. What do you all think?

That depends on where you're talking about. In western Europe during most of the middle ages, outside of famines or plagues, peasants had access to meat in the form of pork mostly as well as beef. Beef was viewed in most of the middle ages as peasant meat and nobles with money were eating shit like peacock and other weird shit to show off their wealth. Chickens weren't raised for their meat, only their eggs. If you lived near the coast or a large river you'd have a lot of fish in your diet. If you were in England then a large part of your medieval diet would be made up of eels. You could even pay your rent in eels. The idea of medieval peasants being starved and eating dirt is a Victorian idea. If you were a lord, why would you starve your workforce that you depended on make money? They weren't slaves. This applies only to western Europe, I don't know much about serfdom in Russia or other parts of the world.
