reddit General

:wow: Holy crap, the r/simpsonsshitposting subreddit is so insufferably political. And political in a soy way. Just scrolling through I found one celebrating the death of Dick Cheney, and another mocking the non-SJWs objecting to the Robert E Lee statue base being demolished. And another poking fun at Charlie Kirk's wife. Plenty of Orange Man Bad.

What do you mean a meme subreddit is just another excuse to become a subgenre of r/politics? I am utterly shocked at this revelation.

I checked out their profile and they claim they're an "khuntha", which is Arabic for a person who is intersex. Dude is not fouling anyone but themselves. Ironically they uploaded pictures of their paintings from a psych ward.

What's ironic is that I found another loony who's very similar. The only difference is he's a vegan crust punk who larps as trans Muslim.
I got second hand STD's from this image! 😱

That condom won't save you from its super AIDS. Also that card is a giant neon sign that says "I am the most insufferable person in a 10 mile radius."

"Are you homophobic?" by your standards probably, yeah.
"Are you sexist?" abso-fucking-lutely
"Are you racist" lol yeah
"So why are you speciesist?" because most animals are fucking stupid and a lot of those stupid dumb animals taste good 😋

Now take a goddamn shower, you disgusting freak.

Redditor's BF breaks up with her (or him, or xir or whatever the fuck) because he's sick of hearing his partner dooming all the time. He dodged a bullet and I hope he finds someone to date who's not a neurotic redditor.

What's that? You want more reddit insanity? PKA talked about r/ARFID recently. What's ARFID? Basically it's picky eating cranked up to 11 and pathologized.

A normal person who doesn't like pickles will just sigh and remove them from their burger if they restaurant accidentally puts them on their burger. But an ARFID "sufferer" will have a full on, screeching autistc meltdown because the pickles TOUCHED the burger bun and patty, ruining it FOREVER.
I believe Taylor when he refers to Woody as a “Reddit connoisseur”

You’re not the only one. Woody sounds like an avid reader of r/politics with some of the takes he’s made in the past. One time he tried to argue that Reddit has a right wing echo chamber problem because of r/conservative or r/thedonald, conveniently ignoring how there’s far more left leaning echo chambers on the site,

I honestly think that sports are probably a good outlet for this type of person. You can cope and sneed and rewrite history about how your team totally should have won it all except for the god damn rigging rat refs or whatever and you're at least just ranting at the pub instead of deciding internally and externally with your discord ideologs that you might need to kill nu-hitler or nu-stalin with a bullet.
I've noticed at least quite a few of them are diehard sports fans as well. Considering that most of them aren't religious they take it up as their new religion. I know most sports fans aren't like them but they do exist.

Here again we see the phenomenon of "Oh I'm a little like X, I must have Y!"
Someone with ARFID, who really has ARFID, has an extreme, uncontrollable, physiological reaction. It's similar to misophonia in that you can see and measure their reaction with a spike in blood pressure, sweating, panic responses, etc. It's not as simple as "I'm so quirky, I don't like pickles!" and yet here the reddit shows itself again as "Oh yay a new hugbox community all for meeeeeeeeeee!"
:sub:
The whole point, the whole damn point is that everyone experiences these things, it's human. The problems arise when these things get extreme enough to interrupt your ability to function normally. If it doesn't cause a problem, it's not a problem and you don't need a label or a diagnosis.

Reddit has a thing where it takes issues that a lot of people suffer from and makes it into a circlejerk of depression and despair. Just about any sub related to chronic illnesses are like this along with r/shortguys or any other of what I call male insecurity communities.

Looks like /r/art's entire mod team just resigned.

Looking into the context (EDIT: RATE ME LATE ON THIS, I didn't see the earlier posts, sorry), it's very fucking stupid.

1764191375404.png1764191419164.png1764191452627.png

Some guy posts his art to the sub, responds to someone asking if he sells prints without pointing offsite to anything (self-promotion is against the rules), and is immediately permabanned by powertripping mods. Asking to have his posting privileges restored, knowing that even something so inoffensive crossed the line, the mods also got so belligerent that they deleted his posting history.

After receiving mild pushback for this on and off platform, the mods took their ball and went home, and now the sub is basically derelict; it's impossible to submit posts to, and there are no moderators (edit: there's a new, different mod, but as of this post the situation hasn't changed).

Reddit moment.

All because the mod just had to be a condescending asshole about a simple misunderstanding. No wonder no one wants to post on reddit. Between arbitrary rules, autobans if you post on a wrongthink sub, and tyrannical power tripping mods, that's not exactly a welcoming environment for new users that aren't bots or scammers.

If this keeps up, all reddit will be useful for is finding answers to an obscure technical question in a random thread from years ago.

I don’t think it was the entire mod team. One of the more inactive mods who had been there a while named Quietus said he didn’t know about the drama going down and was demodded involuntarily without being talked to after Critkal dropped a Youtube video about it.

Well, I have no idea if a 'mental breakdown' is involved or not, said person has now deleted their comments on the mods sub and I don't even know if they were the original person interacting with that user, the modmail is being spammed so hard it's functionally unusable. However, if something like that was going on it hardly makes me more inclined to set the internet's dogs on them?

Also I seem to have now been removed as a mod, illustrating my lack of any meaningful power in this situation.

Looks like the mod that decided everyone quits was neodiogenes. They deleted their original posts but thanks to arctic-shift you can still see it.

Neodiogenes also was the r/Art mod who caused drama when they banned a user for posting AI art but turned out to not be AI at all and decided to doubled down on it and keep the user banned and ran to the admins when people called them out about it. So a typical Reddit power mod.

Why would Reddit mods give up their powerful position? Aren't they power hungry and want to be in that position? There must have been similar unknown cases where this had happened.

If all moderators are bailing then what do they get out of that? It just seems like an unlikely thing for reddit mods to do.

Without checking I'll bet that the mods of r/art also mod a dozen or more other subreddits so losing one isn't that big of a deal.
