Pretty typical and rather tame NYE experience in Germany. I'm not from Cologne (visited countless times though) but their demographics are comparable to my city, e.g. it is filled with shitskins. NYE is the day of the year where you can practically count on getting into shit with people on the streets, especially if you're around on your lonesome. Usually it is the other way around, much easier getting into things with other bug hive dwellers when you're in a group, you mostly don't get bothered when you're out alone, like even late at night on weekends. At least that is my experience from living 30+ years in a German bug hive. When i was younger, NYE was often the only day of the year i got into a physical altercation with other people.
