Do you guys remember that short period after the song "try that in a small town" came out in mid 2023 when all the Redditors were fantasizing about going to small rural red towns and killing people there? I think it was covered in this thread many pages back. Same people calling ICE fascist vigilantes btw. A large percentage of the frequent posters on Reddit would gladly gun down people they considered to be ignorant rednecks if they could.

Most people only pay the bare minimum just to avoid defaulting. They go onto their accounts and pay minimum owed. They refuse to pay more and are too stupid to understand that paying 50 dollars a month on a 100k loan at 8% interest will do fuck all.

I deal with these people all the time where I work. They get sold a dream and then are poverty stricken for life. Welcome to the modern college system!!!!

In a likely final update to the antimeme drama, the mod has been called out and forced out. The subreddit is now making fun of him.

Many redditors fall on catfishing, but I think sockpuppeting is more likely. Unless the guy is rich, the CourseMediocre account was very active and making edits and I doubt a scammer would put that much effort in addition to talking to the mod in private messages.

Edit: Latter images all come from /antimeme, not the drama forum, so even the userbase is in on it. Apparently Rio has acknowledged being catfished. I still think it's sockpuppeting though. He just realized being catfished makes him more sympathetic. As for MercyMain, another alleged sock, he's still a mod and is actively posting sympathetic stuff about Rio the catfishing victim.

Being able to default on loans was invented to prevent banks from shackling retards into debt-slavery for life. It's stupid they don't allow it on student debt. What did you expect to happen if you let a bunch of young adults run up debt with zero ability to get out of it. (edit: I do know they did it because people would just take the student loan, default as soon as they got their degree, since they had nothing to lose, and this basically made it no longer worth it to loan money to students, but the fact that people prefer the hit to their credit score over paying back should tell you the system isn't working any more. If there is zero hazard for the people loaning the money, they have no reason to ever deny a loan. We all know that that kind of moral hazard creeated the credit crunch)

Found on the subreddit /picturesthatgohard which I'd never even heard of until today. Someone posted a wholesome chungus picture mocking Charlie Kirk's assassination which, apparently, they're still gloating about 5 months later. This was met, in turn, by a couple people posting the equivalent for the leftists shot by ICE. Unsurprisingly, not quite the same reception (though, I am surprised they got left up at all).
