2-25-26 Cardiac Action Potentials
After struggling with this since paramedic school, I finally found a way to understand it.
A.Ps of Pacemaker Cells (SA+AV node cells)
1. House #403 got rented out for a party. Na+ is VIP here, so funny Na+ channels let them right in.
2. Na+ doesn't have enough friends to get from RMP (-70mV) to threshold potential (TP, -40mV), so they open the T-type Ca++ channel. A little Ca++ comes in and not the party is -40mV.
3. These Kyles and Chads decide the party needs to be even more lit. What do they do? Close the last doors (funny Na+ and T-type Ca++) and open the L-type (voltage-gated) Ca++ channels. Lots of buddies come in, they've got kegs and cute girls and they make the party go from negative to positive.
4. K+ are the emo kids the house was rented from. They were in it first, but now they're leaving through the voltage-gated K+ channels as the L-type Ca++ channels close. K+ doesn't want to be here anymore, so nought leave to bring the party back to RMP.
5. The Na+/K+ atpases are the cops who kick Na+ out and bring K+ back in the cell.

I worship the ancient Egyptian gods and have Sehkmet, Bast, Ma'at, and Thoth on my altar. I haven't had any issues with it, but some people do. Some gods are more modest than others. If I had Isis or Osiris on my altar, I'd probably be more inclined to cover it up while I'm getting frisky. Osiris's penis was eaten by a fish when his body was cut into pieces and hidden by Set, so watching me get intimate might be disrespectful towards him and his wife. I know I wouldn't want to watch people shagging if I lost my genitals.

Neoteny, which is the retention of childlike traits into adulthood, is a strong force in human evolution and is found much more in the female vs the male. That's why they typically don't grow beards, don't have as much body hair, have softer features, more high pitched voices, etc. Evolutionary biologists think of these as "long term" romantic signals that make a male more protective of females. There was a TV series called "The Human Animal" that covered this back in the day.

Then there are the "short term" sexual signals which are signs of adult fertility. Breasts, wide hips, fatty buttocks, etc. You combine fertility features with neotenous features and you have a healthy male sexuality. It's how women differentiate from men and thusly why they are desired by men. This is the result of hundred of thousands of years of evolutionary pressures.

So in a way she's correct and "beauty standards" are usually ways in which older women try to give themselves more youthful/neotenous features in order to appeal to men more, or ways in which women try to boost their fertility signals such as getting breast implants or enhancing their buttocks. It's nothing evil, it's just the way human sexuality works. Men who do not crave signs of both youth and fertility do not tend to pass on their genes for obvious reasons.

Edit: Here's a great paper by David Brin on theories of why neoteny developed so strongly in humans and particularly in human females. He notes that neotenous facial features were probably how women attracted the RIGHT type of man, one who would be nurturing and protective of offspring. Also read Brin's sci-fi book Startide Rising it's a classic.

Not to umm actually, but YouTube will delete/hide comments that use bad words so you do have to kinda "self censor" if you want to comment. Which is a whole issue in and of itself.

I got a pop up basically asking "This comment goes against community standards and may be hidden! Do you still want to post it?" all because I wrote "ass" in the comment lol.

YouTube is very inconsistent with it though. Like I've seen YouTube comments say retard, cunt, nigga uncensored… but Heavens to Betsy if you say ass or type in caps.

They also out themselves by having everything have to have a gender flag. They're incapable of not bringing up that they're trans. No one is obsessed with trannies as much as trannies.

I agree with the point of what you're saying overall but you definitely do not have any freedom of speech in youtube comments.

I think for a lot of people 85% or more of the 'stigma' of suicide, maybe more, is really that someone else has to clean up after you, someone has to find you or whatever and especially if its a traumatic way out. I thought thats what some of its about.

It doesn't help that most suicide notes come across as petty and vindictive.

And it's also straight up illegal in most religions as well.

I kind of get it but the medical complex being complicit with ending the lives of the mentally ill makes my skin crawl. You're supposed to try and KEEP them from ending themselves and if they do it's an unfortunate incident, not hand them the means and go "alright here you go."
