Autistic women really like bugs and snakes as pets for some reason. It's a common trait for them to be the disgusting "tom boy" type who wants to play in the dirt and collect creepy crawlies.

yeah but that's still a big difference
spiders are cool exotic predators, snakes are smooth and good looking reptiles. both are dangerous which could scare some people but makes it more awesome for those who can handle it.
but roaches are nasty pests, humans have an innate disgust response to them. keeping such vermin as a pet means you're fucked in the head.

I’ve seen a variation of this nonsense where in ancient Egypt they would cover a slave in honey to keep flies away. It strikes me as just another of those bullshit “weird history facts.” Similar to those lists where they talk about the origins of phrases and idioms.

They and rodents (rats specifically ) also smell really bad even if they are neat pets so unless you run a herpetology (I think that’s the right word) program or run some sort of sanctuary I think the internet is the closest you probably want to get to them.

Eh, I don't know. If they're litter box trained they don't really smell at all. They're like cats- constantly grooming themselves, each other and their humans
As with every pet it's a good idea to give their beds/hammocks/other stuff a good wash once in a while

I use Reddit exclusively for Idubbbz drama and camera discussion and I get advertisements for HIV medication, schizophrenia medication and fat people "my kidneys are failing and I'm going to die without being on a dozen pills" ads. None of that shit applies to me and I don't use any subs related to it. I think it's just Reddit knowing their target audience. Your average Redditor is a gay, mentally ill obese person. That's just factual.
