So I'm not the only one that thought it was weird that they randomly shilled a bunch of charities?
shilling "lgbt/poc" charities is the first sign for me that the entire thing was thought up by "woke straights" looking for approval from their super cool brown gay friends

usually people that have any dog in a race don't intentionally shoot the dog you're hoping to win purely to point out "look everyone, this dog's really weak and can't do anything for themselves! you should help it! i'm helping too by pointing out how feeble and helpless they are!"

This all echoes that /r/AmITheAsshole thread about some dude not wanting his bisexual gf to wear a "bi pride shirt" when with him because it made him uncomfortable, and he felt it would look weird and pseudo-progressive. A mod commented that they had a bisexual girlfriend and considered OP the asshole, with everyone else doing the same in the comments. It was surreal.

'Bisexual Pride' people are swiftly becoming the most loathsome group of faggots on the internet. They desperately want all the privileges of being gay without having to suck any cock.

To the surprise of no one, the mods are removing comments they don't like:

Best conversation in the thread, IMO

Also... color me shocked. Here's one of the mods on Resetera fishing for asspats.

This whole /r/games thing makes me fucking mad on the internet. That post has 17,000 upvotes currently, which is just infuriating. 17,000 people agree with this ideology, potentially 10,000+ more as it's 65% upvoted.

You should look at how different the reaction is in the Aftermath thread

Some of the removed comments are interesting (on removeddit, it's blue for posts removed by users and red for removed by mods)

This whole thing just reeked of opportunistic virtue signalling. I found it tasteless and kind of gross tbh.

In response to "The question is why do this at all? "
Selfishness is the answer. The mods wanted to feel morally superior, showing that they're "fighting the good fight" or some shit. Of course doing something in the real world, something that would have actual impact, is too much work, so they decided to literally do the bare minimum; create a post on an Internet forum that was tailored in an attempt to create a panic where there is none. Examples : they're entire album of comments are all downvoted, which shows pretty clearly that the community of a whole doesn't agree with whatever bigotry they tried to claim as "widespread". Delusion is also another answer; their delusion of thinking they can completely get rid of hateful people on the Internet.

Big community of people has a percentage of assholes. That's pretty much an innevitability, especially with a subreddit over 1 million users strong. You won't stop that small percentage from being assholes by punishing the community as a whole, they'll just go on their merry way and asshole somewhere else.
The thing that can be done is shutting those assholes down ASAP and making them know they're not welcome, and for the most part this subreddit does a good job in that regard.

This is how the SJWs fight the culture war. They know their ideas can't survive on the free marketplace ideas, so the play dirty. They force you to listen to their drivel. They censor anything that goes against their agenda and shove their opinions down your throat. The mods of this subreddit have outed themselves as raging authoritarian SJWs. The fascist left. If you don't toe the line, they'll censor you, then lock the subreddit and publicly shame you. To be clear, there was some truly disgusting stuff in that album. Like the pedo apoligism for example. But a lot of it was just stuff that goes against the left wing agenda. Saying feminism is cancer and gender dysphoria is a mental illness is just being in touch with reality. Make no mistake, this was a blatantly political move. The mods are making a false eqivalance by lumping in people who oppose the SJW agenda with nazis and pedos. This is truly disgusting and pathetic behavior and the mods should feel ashamed of their actions.

Looking at removeddit of the aftermath thread brings up some interesting things. Apparently the mods of /r/games where laughing about the drama this would cause, and then gas mask posted this. As much as they go on and on about being charitable and wanting to keep things nice for everyone, it's just a power trip to get rid of people they don't like. Typical reddit mods.
Mods posted a condescending, smug post. Closed the sub, suggested donating to the SPLC of ALL places. Then dispersed to other subs and Resetera to both mock the users who didn't want someone else's politics smeared under their noses and garner ass pats for being woke. Then reopened the sub and delete comments for random reasons if they don't like them.

Otherwise known as "Tuesday" on Reddit.

Also, here's a mod admitting they didn't bother actually looking into any of these charities. Just posted whatever cause they were told by random users, most likely for asspats and woke points.

I won't be surprised if the mods are gonna use the reactions to go and scream "SEE? WE TOLD YOU WE ARE RIGHT ALL ALONG" and other bullshit even though of course when you lock one of the most visited subreddits on Reddit.

And among the solutions, you choose list of charities to donate to?

Holy shit redditors are embarassing. To think there was so much spaghetti to be spilled from their pockets.
Even managed to try deflecting on "chan culture". JUST

What's that thing they can gift each other by the way? Is that reddit silver and platinum, next to the reddit gold coins? Why would anyone throw their money at Reddit, of all things?

TheGasMask4 seems like an insufferable faggot.
But don't you see? Gamers are really really toxic! If only Thanos would get rid of them all, things would be great uwu

I don't really understand this mentality some people have. Yeah, some fans are embarrassing, that's going to happen with any big fanbase. And yet, some twats don't want to understand this and love to make sweeping generalizations, even while being part of said fanbase.
