You're not missing anything. It's nonsense. I know someone who told me a few years ago that we need UBI because she "can't afford toilet paper" and that was the crux of her argument. That our system is so terrible and unfair that she can't afford a basic necessity. And yet this woman has a recent car, she has a brand new smartphone with an unlimited data plan, she has a fucking Mac laptop, she has a big flatscreen TV and satellite and Netflix. But she "can't afford toilet paper". These people are entitled and have their priorities ass backwards. They want to live beyond their means and want everyone else to pay for their ability to do so.
