If, hypothetically, I insult a tranny by making a post consiting solely of "GL" and everyone interprets it as "good luck", is it really an insult?
Asking for an autistic friend.
They may take it as you sarcastically wishing them good luck on their transition :story:

It's nice that a large part of the userbase there is shitting on them banning trap by making a bunch of memes about it which are ending up on Hot. If you read through the comments on a lot of those posts most people don't seem happy about it being forced on them.

There's probably more, but these were most of the ones I spotted on the main page. The automod is set to auto delete comments with Trap in them and every time it does the thing gets downvoted to hell. I'm wondering if: A) They roll this back after enough backlash B) They ignore and double down. If it's the second, I hope the userbase actually does leave and make their own sub and not just bitch a bit before continuing to use it.
You even have other subreddits poking fun at it, like r/PoliticalCompassMemes, one of the few non-pozzed subreddits. (archive)

The local newspaper ran an article defending that choice. They said that Black was empowering but White would enable "white supremacists" and so it couldn't be done.
Uniting tribes from a 50+ country continent of a billion as a weapon against you = "empowering"
Suggesting any kind of shared Western identity = "supremist"

Update on r/animemes: It's still on fire and the userbase is flooding the sub with memes mocking the mods over banning trap or fake petitions to ban other words. When I last looked yesterday it was only a couple posts on hot talking about it, now the entire front page and more is completely full of memes about the ban. The few mods that do show up get downvoted on sight, one of the top mods aofhaocv (I think since I'm not to familiar with it, but their name is near the top of the mod list) has been the most vocal in defending this change. Some examples:

Same mod was also in the r/SubredditDrama showing how much contempt they have for the r/animemes userbase:

Looking through some of their earlier posts on SRD are interesting given what's happened to r/animemes. :sighduck:

Was going to post some of the memes, but I'll just leave my post at that. If anyone knows more about this mod please feel free to add more, I've been skimming their post history and it's full of typical reddit cancer (ACAB, TDS, Anti-Gamer, posts on SRD).

Call me overly optimistic but I think this may mark the beginning of the downfall of reddit mods. We just need something to push something over the edge... like I dunno it becoming known to the public that the mods are involved in a pedo ring

Remember they do it for free :):

Imagine spending so much of your time reviewing comments and deleting them because someone said the word trap. Lol these mods are ridiculous. I hope they burn out so r/animemes can set new mods for the sub.

It really was a different time. If FPH was banned today most of Reddit would celebrating yet another "hate subreddit" getting banned.
It's funny to me that fat people are seen as an oppressed minority by some folks. First, fatties are the majority, at least in the USA. Second, unlike other "privileges", most fatties can stop being fatties by changing their lifestyle. Unlike being black/gay/etc. where you can't do anything to turn yourself white or straight and your personal choices had no effect on you having those qualities, being fat is just the result of your own decisions.

Ah, motherfucker. That was the last subreddit I frequently visited. Guess reddit is truly dead, at least for me.

I knew being radical centrists and being unironically gay wouldn't stop r/drama from eventually being banned.

Appeasement doesn't work.

That's the best part about drama, they always found the autism on both sides, equally. Now it'll be forever doomed as a shill hugbox of heckins and pupperinos.
