reddit General

Intersex people have always existed,
Zero percent of transsexuals are born with the exceedingly rare (it's rarer than one in a million) birth defect that causes that syndrome. Nor are they born with Kleinfelter's or the other genetic defects granting multiple broken sex chromosomes.

And if they were it wouldn't matter because those are all severe deformities, they're "natural" in that they're caused by various environmental factors, but not healthy or normal.

There is an immensely popular Tumblr post claiming that there are same percentages for intersex, redheads and green-eyed people in human population, and nobody would claim latter two aren't real, so THIRD GENDUR CUMFIRMED.

Since male and female are entirely based on the gametes, sperm and eggs, they'd have to find a third gamete to prove the existence of a third gender, which they can't. They probably don't even know that intersex is a condition you get diagnosed with if you're born infertile, not because you're not considered male or female because as I said, 2nd and 3rd sexual characteristics of intersex individuals will still lean heavily male or female (like those with klinefelter being male) to the point that "intersex" is just a formality, they're no third gender, they just lack the defining quality of their sex (sperm if male)

How would you even know if you met an intersex person or not? I'm hardly an expert but I believe I read somewhere intersex people appear to be physically male or female. They just have underdeveloped or malformed genitals.
That's more or less how it is. As far as I know, the major difference between "intersex" and other hormone conditions that might, e.g., cause an enlarged clitoris in women or a micropenis in men, is that they're way more damaging to reproduction. Rather than just having androgen insensitivity making a woman look super roided out, it's a chromosomal problem that causes other issues.

They range from nearly normal (i.e. you might not even realize you had the condition unless examined minutely) to completely unidentifiable.

Soon kids will be vanned to amazon daycare by the same guy that just dropped off the new rick and morty funkos.

Every morning right after that, doordash brings mommy and daddy some cereal and milk and they watch cartoons in their pajamas until they start their work from home day.

I've probably said this before, but I never realized just how toxic and condescending the users on r/AskHistorians and r/HistoryMemes and other History-related Subreddits were until I frequented other History related forums.

While the other forums weren't perfect, I'd had far more intelligent discussion and seen people who weren't afraid to point out the inconsistencies and or biases on various topics that would likely get downvoted or removed from the aforementioned Subreddits.

But I guess this is a reflection of who frequents Reddit.

r/HistoryMemes also has the problem of people posting factual incorrect things for a meme, not bothering to even do a basic amount of research, which turns the comment section into a wild dumpster fire. It would get even worse with commie related stuff since you'd have a bunch of people going to bat for deigning warcrimes done by them.

I don't really have much personal experience with r/AskHistorians past knowing they keep everything pretty locked down when it comes to answers. If I take your word for it then that's quite a sorry state for it to be in, most historians I've talked to are usually the exact opposite since they love having a chance to talk about their field of research. I've never really had any of them get upset over getting asked questions or be condescending. Historians themselves will also often get into proverbial slapfights, worded nicely enough, through book/article reviews if they disagree with someones use of evidence or believe the conclusion they reached was incorrect. Shutting down disagreement over someones conclusion, interpretation, or use/lack of evidence seems to go against what I would consider pretty important about the field.

I think it's amusing to see people post factually incorrect stuff, either out of ignorance and or wanting to get the most upvotes and then the comments are either supporting them or going on some tirade because they're wrong. Yeah, I've seen the commie stuff and oh boy.

As for r/AskHistorians, as the user above said, if you see questions about more "sensitive" topics, you're in for a treat. Beyond that, it's usually the same questions getting all the upvotes and other questions that you don't see asked too often not getting any attention. I'd admit that it can be beneficial to weed out certain bad answers, but it gets annoying when there are questions where it seems like every answer has been removed. It's possible not all the answers removed were that bad anyways.

Many Historians I've also talked to or met on other forums are also passionate about their interests and generally nice/polite. I've never had that feeling going into Reddit's History-related subreddits, even if some of the users can be helpful to an extent.

Off to a good start, it’s been established that the brick thing is 100% revisionism.

Much like Gangstalking, you have to be in it to understand it. Wonder if there’s a common thread or something.

So according to a post on “Azn Identity,” an American Hapa was going on an Instagram rant about why Filipinos and other Southeast Asians aren’t “Asian” and have no right to consider themselves as being “Asian.” She’s also accusing of them of being jealous of East Asians because they “live in shitholes”. Maybe someone should give her a globe for Christmas.

They’re reacting in a typical Azn Identity fashion, accusing her of lying about being part Asian (saying she’s not part Korean or Japanese or whatever) and that she’s just a German or Russian with a Koreaboo fetish. From what I gather, the woman in the rant isn’t even Asian or European, she’s just an American who visits Japan/East Asia. She has an American flag on her Instagram profile and says that she’s a Hapa.

The irony is, there are a lot of East Asians who look down on South East and other Asians. IDK why they’re acting like all Asians get along.
