A newish subreddit, /r/sexpositivehomes, is perhaps the most Reddit thing I've ever seen.

Top post on the sub is removed for violating TOS, but here's the next post:

OK, perhaps not too interesting although the single mom meme is there, but when you look at /u/tat_mom13's profile, well, you see this kind of shit:

Clearly this person is raising two daughters (if they are daughters) in a good manner!

These subreddits, where people talk about committing actual criminal sex offenses, are merely quarantined while subreddits dedicated to right-wing internet memes are banned outright. This really is reddit in a nutshell.

Because most peoples knowledge of world history is literally just ww2, and only the western front at that. They have no clue of the horrors that took place on the eastern front or pacific theater. Most of their examples are cherry picked, and they lack the historical knowledge to recognize that atrocities happened all the time all over the place.

Everyone knows about Mengele, but almost nobody knows about Shiro Ishii and Unit 731, which was at least as atrocious as Mengele's deeds and possibly even worse. I probably found out more about the Pacific front from Hollywood movies of the past couple decades than from high school and college and watching hundreds of hours of The History Channel back when it was basically The Hitler Channel.

Especially when you get to the end of the story and find out that he died a peaceful death as a country doctor, because the United States traded him immunity from the war crimes trials so we could use his research in the Cold War. This being a guy who developed extensive plans to bomb Los Angeles with anthrax and bubonic plague.
