reddit General

But why didn't spez okay the crackdown anyway? He runs the pozzed social media outlet, the one that's completely designed to push normalfagism on alleged free thinkers, and a place for encouraging any matter of disgusting fetishes up to literal pozzing. I'd expect him to be more than cool with kicking down bodily autonomists on his turf, I'm confused, this is completely out of character for him and large social media in general. It has to be for a practical reason instead of a political one, is he tired of getting hatemail for crackdowns? Is it specifically to spite the moderator cabal? I'd believe that, only because they're the users he's had the most time to develop a grudge for, but denying the common agenda out of spite would basically make him evil according to his liberal moral compass.
I think the tranny jannies are thin ice and are going to get the fucking boot soon if they keep their bullshit up. Hell even the crack about unionizing May have been the straw that breaks the camel’s back, also the N8 faggot talking about how he has dirt on spez or some bullshit like that. I honestly don’t see them pulling this shit for much longer. Most of those top subs have dozens of mods and even if they’re the only mod on a major sub (HIGHLY unlikely) there’s literally hundreds of thousands of people waiting in the sidelines to become the next Power Mod.

there’s no possible way they could’ve come out louder and more clear that they’re tired of the “””protests””” and they’re tired of the power mods bullshit and this tactic, as well as their place on Reddit, isn’t going to work very much longer.

tldr tranny jannies btfo as publicly as they possibly could be and should quit their bullshit if they wanna remain “””important”””.

Okay this is making me kinda suspicious now. I'm all for reddit protecting free speech and whatever but that has been the exact opposite of their MO for like 8+ years. What's the deal? Usually they would be clapping and cheering the jannies for this. Feeling threatened or something by the people they gave a massive ego by constantly bending to?
Yeah, I wonder where all this moral high ground was when AHS spammed subs with CP, and the supermods shut down 2000 subs for vague reasons like “hate speech” and “transphobia” (apparently talking about issues that are unique to the female anatomy and getting mad at degenerates hanging around for fetish reasons is “transphobia” now).

I guess they don’t mind throwing their pet feral trannies a bone now and then, as long as it only hurts people who don’t pull in big advertisers.

Smoking a pack of cigs a day is less damaging to your health than regularly engaging with the corporatized internet. I haven't met anyone who was convinced to cut up their genitals by the Marlboro Man.
Would you deny that Social Media is cancer? They're both damaging and addictive, and the only reason people use them is because they think it makes them cool.

Very much so. I still have social media for keeping up with a small subset of friends, but it just clicked how much free time I spend on them. Had a reddit account for just MMA and a few other things, and realised I spent way too much free time reading threads instead of doing things, so I deleted it. Did something similar to another app a year ago and did wonders for productivity, and comparatively to most of the population, I don't use it for shit.

I can only imagine how damaging and time sucking it must be for most people to constantly be on shit like facebook, reddit, instagram etc.

Edit: Huffpost article on people disconnecting. Unsurprisingly ends up being a net positive for most of them. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/people-who-deleted-social-media_l_606b4d0cc5b66c4ab6b585eb/amp

"Don't say 'kill all t/jannies'; say 'allowing t/jannies to exist is irresponsible'".
Love how they even admit that they know they’re not going to change anyone’s opinion re: the vaxx. So then why are they doing this again? I thought they were brave warriors going down in history for saving lives, but it looks like they’re just petty retards reee-ing about people disagreeing with them on the internet. I am shocked.

That's weird. I can't imagine driving something that's basically a floor cleaning go kart and not having the time of my life.
GAS GAS GAS
I mean, yeah. The theory that explains this is that Reddit was just afraid of the PR backlash of banning /r/the_donald until it was clear that it was "safe", which didn't happen until Trump lost the election. [Edit] I'm not saying that it wasn't politically-motivated, of course, but that there was a clearer pretext for banning /r/the_donald then /r/NoNewNormal, which requires instituting a new rule that nobody (including its advocates, who would simply steer a very wide berth around it) would understand and expecting moderators to enforce it.

It's also again a problem of the rough tools that Reddit uses to not only ban communities but also "evasion subreddits". Trump support isn't banned but anywhere that gets a sufficiently high concentration of Trump supporters probably will be. So if /r/NoNewNormal is banned then people will try to make new subs but they'll get banned as evasion subs. So instead they'll start filtering out into subs like /r/conservative and /r/conspiracy, which will then become targeted and have to institute the sorts of very broad "no vaccine skepticism" rules that I mentioned before. But no one knows what that actually means.
their ban evasion tools mark the account with the invisible ink and the new subs are automatically nuked when too many tainted accounts congregate
What subreddit was this?
r/thathappened
I like how r/drama is so involved in this. They're like Kiwi Farms: Reddit Division.

I wondered where they went after they gave the dude running Ruqqus a nervous breakdown.
The ruqqus division were the r/deuxrama expats, the guys who had guts to post actual funny memes. Who had guts to show the middlefinger to the dictator jannies of r/drama. Who had guts to be banned on their own terms. Peace be upon them..

r/drama (now rdrama.net) users on the other hand are castarated timid pussies who act brave but only in front of the mirror. They probably have the cuck and abuse fetishes. at one point they even turned into ironic faggots just to avoid the ban hammer from the admins

I'm genuinely curious what the senior Reddit Jannies will do here. One on hand they can't ban NNN without making up some bullshit like brigading, which is the reason it's already quarantined, on the other and they can't allow the rogue jannies to keep sperging out and locking subreddits until one side caves in.

They really dug themselves a hole here allowing power jannies free reign as if that would never backfire.
how many of those jannies are trannies or claim to be trans? i bet you it's like 80% and the admins are probably told specifically to never ban them en masse. not because they actually care about trannies, but because it would make their entire campaign of turning reddit into the most left wing extremist website go arry because the userbase will suddenly think that the reason why they banned the jannies is because they're transphobic and not because they're bad janitors. then they'll start protesting and shit too. i think the admins and spez are going to cave because they don't wanna look "transphobic" by banning people who are not fit for the job

Imagine having a site where you can be banned from the site for using the site in its intended way by someone who doesn't even run the site.
Moderatroon: "TO GET UNBANNED YOU MUST RECITE THE PLEDGE AGAINST THE GAMERVAXXER NAZIS"
Banned guy: "hahaha I'm on your side you dolt, just turn down your dumbass ban bot"
Moderatroon: "SAY THE PLEDGE VERBATIM ON YOUR KNEES"
Banned guy: "fuck off lol"
Moderatroon: "ABSOLUTELY HARAM"

There totally is. Reddit could hire some temp worker to do it in less than a day. Wouldn't even have to hire a new person even, just get the people who actually deal with Illegal Content to moderate the subreddits for a bit. Reddit has 700 employees, not a small company.
But then they might actually have to pay them

The more I read about this gay event, the lower my opinions drop of reddit powerjannies. I hope the admins publically make an example of each one of these power tripping faggots, and humiliate them. With luck they'll remove themselves from the gene pool.
It's reddit, they will sweep it under the floor in some way and delete all the subs trannies want to shut down anyway.

Well, my Reddit account got banned for "threatening violence." Apparently saying you support the death penalty for child rapists is threatening violence. A Reddit admin must have taken offense.

Guess it's time to stop looking at this shit website. Outside of PCM, it was getting pretty cringe.

I think Reddit's IPO is the main reason the admins are taking a harder stance.

Venture capitalists are unlikely to care about an anti-vax subreddit as long as they get a good return on investment (or useful data harvesting). They will care if various parts of their investment can go dark at the whims of people who don't work for reddit. Especially when six people control a fifth of the top 500 subreddits. It's not like a dodgy executive where investors can petition the board to have them removed, it's just a volatile platform.

If I were the reddit admin team, I'd remove the ability to make subreddits (over, say, 5,000 subscribers) private/approved submitted only on the basis of "synergising communities and allowing for a more diverse and dynamic discussion base". Throw in a couple of new tools for the jannies to deal with brigading but stress that they don't own subreddits and can't unilaterally decide to tank their community because they're angry about something. If you've got a good reason to ask a sub to go private, the entire mod team can go contact an admin to do it for them. Or at least update the ToS to state that privating a subreddit out of protest is a bannable offence because it negatively impacts user experience.

I'd also observe that the anti-anti-vax jannie movement is more about pearl clutching than genuine concern. These are the sort of people who want permanent lockdowns and enforced social distancing because they lived like that anyway, and both want other people to be controlled while they get to pat themselves on the back for "saving lives" by spending 18 hours a day on reddit and living off deliveroo.
