Redfall. - I'm not angry, just...disappointed.

Get this, it's a game about Vampires taking over a small town... But you don't get to play as the vampires.

I think that "humans have to try to survive after their town has gone under seige by vampiric powers" is a pretty decent setup for a story/game, but the tone of the game doesn't work well at all with how it's presented. It could work better if it were actually more grim, and even just trying to cross a town full of thralls, cultists, and the ocassional vampire super-enemy was a challenge. Instead you're going around throwing out quips as you headshot guys with your looter-shooter purple quality gun and kicking vampires around like they're jokes. Then you couple that with how braindead the AI is, and it gets even more pathetic. Even the cover art portrays these guys as getting stomped, but the cutscenes and story act like they're serious threats. It makes the game feel weirdly contradictory, like two writers were arguing over it.

Well it's better than what xbox has. Which is a whole lot of disappointment. Also worth mentioning many third party games that just won't come out on xbox like octopath 2 and many other jrpgs. Playstation just has more games that I and others want to play.

It is like this with every AAA video game. Every single female protagonist is a lesbian. There are more lesbians in video games then there is in real life at this point. It doesn't help that many of these lesbian characters are more often then not written by men and act like how men think lesbians act. Men who are on the cusp of trooning out and are making rough drafts for their dating profiles on HER. Rarely do you come across gay male characters in AAA video games. Because that would be way too gay and the audience of troons and the hrt brain rotted devs don't want to play as a icky gay man while they can play as the hot and empowered lesbian. This is one of the smoking guns that they hire people who don't know what they're doing nowadays, Prey 2017 looked gorgeous despite the weird art direction of the character designs, but now Redfall looks putrid.

But Prey started development in 2013 and came out in 2017, that was when Queen Anita's influence was being felt on gaming in the west, but post 2017 TDS has hit the industry like a nuclear bomb and is completely ruining it.

Another consequences of letting feminist's worm their way into the industry. Many feminists hate men and are usually political lesbians. This reminds me of a study that the Lego Company did in that when boys play with a toy, like a Batman or Iron Man toy, they become that character while with girls they try to make that character become them. This makes sense in a way with what we've seen with female creatives. They are a lesbian? So is the main character! I don't need no man and I am also snarky and empowered (a bitch) and so to is the main female character. It is just self inserts and I am getting really sick of it.

Hold up I know the thread is about Redfall, but Prey 2017 is mediocre at best for a few hours and then becomes exceedingly boring after you realize all the enemies are black goo, I have tried to get through that game three times and every single time I get to Hydroponics and stop caring.

In my opinion Arcane has rarely been able to find a good gameplay loop to really focus on, they made one game with decent combat and that was like 20 years ago, I have no idea why they went this route with Redfall when it seems to be a game focused on what they are weakest at.

Phil Spencer really has no say at xbox. Microsoft wants gamepass to be the next netflix (In its prime). Wants everything to be a service they really don't care about hardware anymore its why they are pushing gamepass so hard. But, I'd reckon the whole CMA blocking the acquisition has thrown a wrench into their plans.

Darkwatch was a pretty good game.

Vampyr from 2018 was also a decent game, gets a bit repetitive and dull in the mid to late game but its not super long and doesn't completely overstay its welcome.

Vampyr was a neat game with a flawed execution and dull story. The abysmal loading times on console didn't help. The combat in particular was extremely tedious but at the same time piss easy to cheese. It's the sort of game that would have probably had a much better sequel to itself sometime in the future, but likely never will. If that makes any sense lol.
