I didn't know Nerd Crew was a parody of a real channel, I thought it was just satire of geek podcasts in general. Are the mashup videos still available somewhere?
It's not a direct parody. The guys don't pull punches but they're also not the types to dedicate an entire video series to insulting another channel. It's more the fact Collider is just a kitchen sink of all the banal pop culture junkie cult behavior the Nerd Crew vids satirize.

I thought the same thing, and then began to wonder if it is, and this one podcast just interpreted it as a direct insult. I can't seem to find it right now, but someone did a supercut of Nerd Crew and like a dozen real "nerd culture shows" and they were all indistinguishable from each other. So the fact that there's a very good chance RLM just threw together a bunch of stereotypes together and some shit tier show immediately assumed they were fucking with them specifically is hilarity.

Update found it;

I wish I had taken a screenshot of it before comments got wiped, but the memory still makes me smile to this day.

On one of the more popular pirate video streaming sites (called putlocker), the comments section of Space Cop used to be completely filled with angry people who were legitimately upset that Space Cop was a shitty amateur parody film. After reading past the blatantly facetious title and plot synopsis, these people pressed the play button seriously expecting some kind of big budget sci-fi thriller and threw a tantrum in the comments when they were treated to ninety minutes of Rich and Mike dicking around. And it wasn't just like two or three guys, there were like 15 or 20, all of them dead serious (no RLM meme references or anything sarcastic)

Wait, Space Cop isn't a serious film?

Someone already mentioned here in this thread that the Darth Vader suit video is literally just them reading a printout of the Wookiepedia page. It's a testament to their skill that they were able to turn that into something so hilarious.

It's also a testament to how utterly ridiculous a lot of the extended universe is.

Oh my God. I've never actually watched any of those geek culture channels before. Holy shit is this fucking pathetic. Bunch of grown ass men playing with fucking Legos.

I for one find it hilarious that the mainstreaming of nerd culture has wound up producing fan commentary/material that looks even more stupid and immature than 30 year old men making vlogs about Star Trek minutiae.

Unrelated to this specific topic, about RLM and Paul Latza, was there any confirmation that he actually traveled and tried to meet them? He denies it and Rich brings it up in a videogame episode offhand, but I was curious if to he found out about it after the fact online, or if Paul actually made the trip up there.

RLM are True & Honest nerds (no sarcasm; I say this out of love.) - they just about have my respect them for that, even if I don't always agree with them on their movie reviews.

I'm just sorry to hear they've been having to deal with this BS from people who clearly aren't (and likely have never been, unless it sounded popular to do) nerds themselves - posers or better yet, scumbags, sounds more fitting here.

And the salt they're producing shows me just how fake these posers truly are.

The best kind of salt is the accidental kind. It blows my mind that rlm's nerd crew is just a general pastiche of corporatized shillcasts across the board but accidentally turns out to be honestly mistaken by these collider people as a specific attack on them because their show is just that pathetic. If they had even a speck of self-awareness they should go kill themselves somewhere where Logan Paul can find the bodies and monetize filming them.
