Any niggas reenact?
I have real mixed feelings about it. The subtitle kind of gives it away, a lot of reenacting feels celebratory and I like war in large part to crywank to it, I'll even play militaria games so I can vicariously live real people's terror and misery. I'm happiest when I'm sitting in a trench thinking "this fucking sucks." But, I also like playing dress-up, and I recently learned that square dance (something I do) is actually genealogically descended from formation warfare. No joke. Square dance is a quadrille mixed with a Morris dance, or something like that, and that in turn comes out of nobility basically applying these geometric drills to courtship rituals.

If I reenacted, I would presumably reenact whatever you have available, because that's all anybody really does. But, I'd like:
Patriot side: The Overmountain Men
Tory side: Hessian grenadiers
Confederate side: Some sort of shitty state militia with slouch hats
Union side: Zouaves
WW1: French poilus in their stupid red pants or the later version with Adrian helmets; Highlanders

Most ridiculous one-sided smackdown of the Revolution that lead directly to the Patriot victory. Entirely colonial battle between proto-Tennesseans (whose government, Sycamore Shoals -> Watauga, was a de facto independent statelet before the Revolution) and Deep South Tories.

Hessians were basically slave-soldiers that their rulers would rent out. Not mercenaries of choice: the govt itself is run like a giant mercenary company. They were mostly deployed as grenadiers (shock infantry) or jaegers (light infantry). The Hessians, having truly awful lives (Germany was a cesspool), mostly stayed in the United States after the War, and the locals generally did not resent them (they resented their deployment against them, but did not tend to blame the men themselves).
