Regarding the apparent and imminent repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act and the future of this website.

Serious question: how difficult would it be to just wipe the whole site off the clearnet and run it exclusively on Tor so that it's completely under the radar? No official owner, no legal entity that could be sued for it, just an onion site that's hosted god knows where.

There's shit that's patently illegal on Tor, right? All this site has to worry about is crazy litigious assholes armed with paper, which by comparison... well, they're not the feds.
The problem is the (relatively) large amount of infrastructure required to run the Farms and that Null already has his information out. Someone else would have to have the baton passed to them, not be autistic enough to have their shit out there, and have the technical knowledge to run this shit. That combination is nearly nonexistent now, much less continuing into the future.

Well shit, its been fun. Thanks for everything Null. Just hope Daddy Drumpf comes to his senses and realises this won't stop big tech, they can afford to have an army of lawyers on standby. It'll only vindicate them to get more censor-happy.

Yeah, back during earlier internet activism the big boys (Reddit, Wikipedia, Youtube, etc.) were held in generally higher regard by most people. Now there's a sizable amount of people who think those places have a lot of bias (not saying it isn't true). Weird to think "a house divided cannot stand" would apply to the Internet.
Big tech's soul died with Aaron Swartz.

I've been lurking the farms for years and only just signed up last January. :stress:

If this is it, it has been a hell of a ride my fellow kiwi's. Semper fidelis to each one of you. Thank you for making this one of the last bastions of free speech, expression, and thought on the internet. :semperfidelis:

Dude, just shut it down regardless. You haven't had fun running this, it's burning you out a shitton, and the politics virus really is taking everything over.

Go out on a high note.
I said it once & I'll say it again: Take us out with a bang. Not SomethingAwful's whimper.

God speed you magnificent tard-wrangler. :semperfidelis:
Thank you, user who has been here for two weeks and user who has made less than 10 posts, for telling the owner to shut it down. Which lolcow threads are yours?

Where will the kiwi refugees go if this happens?
There is a newsgroup that was setup just in case of this: free.homesteading.kiwis. AIOE runs a free news server where no registration is required, and encrypted connections are available. It's archaic and cumbersome so it will fly under the radar. Usenet, in fact, predates the original section 230. It has no moderation or censorship.

Prob not. If anything, this will just hurt conservatives more and its going to be funny when red gets double fucked by a repeal and all the pro-commie and critical race theory shit stays.

So, prob just the same except more gay.
This response is a non sequitur. Net neutrality not being passed was supposed to be the end of the internet.

As you'll notice, the internet is still here.

from shitposts to seriousness,
It has been an honor gentlemen.

Boohoo, at least big tech won't be able to spread their globohomo garbage and make everything worse.

It's a tolerable sacrifice.
Sounds to me that it's more likely that the cocksuckers at Google, Facebook and Twitter will be some of the few organisations wealthy enough to defend any future legal actions in US courts.

Everyone itt blaming trump when the op explicitly says biden wants the same thing.

Too bad nobody took trump up on fixing it. Too bad the democrats want hate speech laws and more censorship.
Just because the other side is just as shit doesn't mean there's no blame for Trump you brainwashed faggot. Not everything is red vs blue and in fact most things are "the government fucks you, enjoy". Trump didn't drain the swamp, he became one with it.

Live free or die, nigger.
More like "die free instead of maybe living free" if you ask Null. There's no way to know what the future holds. Null has built something that took years and years of hard work and he's formed a community that most site runners would kill for, and he's going to nuke it because of a bump in the road and go be some code gopnik for the rest of his life. If 230 goes, that will unleash a tide of the most white-hot retardation we have ever seen and there is no fucking way that the world is going to tolerate that and let the internet implode. It will get fixed. But as usual, Null is going to take the impulsive emotional route, tell everyone around him to fuck themselves, and destroy his life's work because it's easier than fighting within the system. There are numerous options he could explore before nuking the site, but he's going to take the easy and stupid way out because he's emotional and can't bring himself to compromise even if the potential payoff is better than not compromising. Five years from now Null could be the man who guided a beloved niche of the internet through hellfire with his users at his back or he could be a nameless drone sucking some corporate dick somewhere and he's opening wide instead of rallying the troops. I'm not asking him to do it for me, I am telling him to do it for himself. If I were in his position, I would fight, because he has a chance I will never have and the alternative is a guaranteed loss.

So yeah, "live free or die", but Null interprets that as "kill yourself if there's a chance you can't live free". It's retarded. If he does pull the plug, that's his choice, but he shouldn't make it. He has something worth fighting for and people who would help him and he won't fight. You can try to make his choices out to be freedom fighter alpha male if you want, but he's acting like a lolcow to me.
