Regular Car Reviews - Red Letter Media - Car Edition

This just comes across as deranged. Do American boomers hound gas stations like fucking revenants or something?
I think we need to start a non profit to educate old people that they can harass unfunny faggots anywhere, at the cashier line, ev charge station, pretty much anywhere with a line, while waiting for the stop light to change. The possibilities are endless.

I came across this article about the 1969 Chevrolet and my mind raced back to these two videos.

I think this speaks volumes about how detached Mr. Regular is from... well... regular. The article above states how cars were honestly pretty crummy if you were broke and how in 1955 Chevrolet decided to just take the more upscale car body shells and sell them as Chevrolets with all the options you could want. You could buy them as a stripper car or fully optioned, or something in between. Camaro days you could the Z28 for the race track. Meanwhile he says this rebadged European shitbox from Nash (which he couldn't even drive because it was broken) is the ultimate transportation of the 60s. What? So a type of car that uplifted people and gave them hope is somehow worse than some crummy piece of shit that reminds you of your failings as a human being?

edit: he's also a hypocrite since he ditched his Falcon for a Galaxie lololol

Speaking as someone who use to be a big fan of his (dipped out around the time he announced he was gay and fully left when he started doing the furry shit). People hear have talked about his downfall and his removal of the comfy videos, but it was when he embraced being "I'm not like other car reviewers I'm cool and normal and not chad I and have no identity beyond the "right politics ™ edgy as a basic modern redditor" when shit just collapsed. The final nail was when he started removing his "controversial " videos, the man might be a nice guy but he's a coward, who is desperate for an identity, it would do him wonders if he moved to a city that had a population greater than 10,000 people. The thing I never understood was how he went to a therapist and "discovered he was gay". Which makes no sense because he would talk about dating/fucking women in his private diary stuff, even the one where he admitted to doing pcp. Him being bisexual or the kind of guy who likes it when a woman wears a strap on, I could see, but a full blown homosexual, not at all. I feel like he's trying to "make up" for "coming out" so late in his life. It's sad really, just sad and cringe.

Also the area of PA where he is from isn't super poor it's working, blue collar middle class at most. I think the lolcow arc will truly start when he comes out that he's dating/marrying/fucking a tranny and that tranny was/is a sex pest.

This happens to every YouTuber who starts life as a "regular guy" reviewer. Guntubers will go from being the new "regular working mans gear and gun channel" to finding success and becoming a very opinionated fag who now only will shoot $1200 minimum guns and is into night vision and all this other really high end shit. It can happen rapidly. Same thing with RCR. He's got all this experience with all these cars so now he's an out of touch very opinionated type who wants to be a sommeil for cars and thinks he has "taste".

Holy shit.

So Mr. Regular is telling a story from his Lyft driver days about a guy whose brand new top-of-the-line expensive truck that he saved up for a decade to buy got wrecked after a week of use. So the point of the short is "look at this fucking retard setting himself back a decade for a truck" but what got me is when he asked the dude "why did you buy the truck" and the guy said "I just want one nice thing in my life". And what did he get out of it? lol 'straight white male can only think about the truck' like go fuck yourself man.

There's no way he doesn't know about the black stereotype and hellcats and scat packs. THE WHITE MAN AM I RIGHT. This man SAVED his money up. He bought it. Unlike a certain other large demographic that gets their cars repo'd all the time. What happened to that guy really is awful, and yeah people make dumb decisions with money, but he could afford it. He saved it up. If his falcon got fucking totaled right after he finished it he'd be fuckin pissed and sad too. Besides you bought a fucking fur suit you weirdo.

Wow, this was another channel I used to be subscribed. Unsubbed years ago, not through any 'last straw' reason but I cull my subs every now and then if I don't actually watch the videos in my feed. Didn't realize he became a pretentious faggot.

Real question is if those women existed at all...

Nah he has a point there but his mistake is going with the "straight white men amirite?" bullshit as if every other group didn't do the same shit, some to an even more absurd degree. Seen gay guys with debt up their necks to buy a bentley, latinos will eat nothing but rice and beans for years to buy a charger and don't get me started on how much blacks spend on fucking wheels alone while living in the projects. BTW this isn't even an American thing, seen the same abroad even in poorer countries where cars are also more expensive than here, the lengths some people will go to buy those cars is insane.

As for the "I just want one nice thing in my life" is funny how that doesn't resonates with brian who more or less says/believe his entire life before RCR became popular was hell. You would think he's exactly the kind of guy who would understand that maybe this dude had a pretty shitty life, likely worse than him, likely poorer, maybe he never got anything he wanted even if it were small things, and when he finally does this happens. But nope, brian is completely up his own ass now that's he's making 1/3rd of a million a year.

I was looking up some repair guides for my car and got recommended this V70 review from a few months ago.

Older video but I had the displeasure of watching it and wanted to share my opinion. I own a P3 XC70, I originally wanted to buy a P2 but all the ones in my area sucked and I eventually located a really nice P3 for cheap. Even with that in mind I am comfortable in claiming that.

1: The door being flimsy is a complete lie and joke, in fact I would argue the opposite. Doors in these cars are extremely heavy and bulky to the point is requires a lot of time to adjust to how much force it requires to close them. Heavy but not at all flimsy, I don't think a human being would be able to slam them hard enough to cause any damage.
2: The seats are not uncomfortable, though the leather needs some extra care and maintenance to keep in good shape.
3: The part costs are expensive, he is right about that. But I don't think he should be operating on the belief that your supposed to buy this car and treat it like a beater.
4: The one positive thing he said isn't even really true... He says they are cheap to buy... For a 20 year old car going for around 6.5-8K for a good one is pretty pricey in my opinion.
5: His expectations for the handling and performance of this heavy ass station wagon makes no sense to me... Like it has the performance of... A regular car and thats somehow a bad thing for... a regular car????
6: He spends half the video complaining about everyone online having the complete opposite opinion of him. He then malds about the fact SAAB went under and Volvo didn't which seems to be the root cause for his complaints about this car.

Maybe I am simping for Volvo but his comment section seems to generally agree with me.

Either way, really shit video.

I used to watch this guy all the time because I'm not a "car guy" in the traditional sense. I don't freak out over horsepower numbers or lap times, but I do enjoy learning about interesting cars and the sorts of people who are drawn to them. His irreverent offbeat storytelling style was appealing, but eventually I gradually lost interest over time.

I checked in recently, and yikes... look at what he's become!

Some of my favorite videos were the car meet ones where we'd be treated to a rapid-fire barrage of quick jokes about whatever vehicles happened to be around. This one that I was treated to was a furry car meet. The whole thing just made me uncomfortable.

As others here have pointed out, he's an angry guy. Why is he so angry? I have some ideas.
Clearly he holds a grudge since he still seems to be hung up on high school stuff in his 40s. Back then, he looked at what others had with envy -- whether that was physical possessions, intellect, athleticism, or popularity. He saw what he lacked and what others had and seethed with resentment.
He is of the generation that was told that one's value comes from their uniqueness, and he seems to have leaned hard into that. That's why he lusts over shitty cars. He'll pretend that he likes some ugly unloved economy car that was never designed to last past 1985 because no one else likes it, and THAT will make him unique and special! It's why he'll never admit to liking Mustangs, but he loves his Falcon.
And it worked out well for him for the most part. Few others were making the type of content he did, and it was well-received.
And now he's become successful and can buy any car he pleases... but because he's boxed himself into being the "I like shitty cars" guy, he still can't have what he really wants.

The old videos are still fun for a rewatch now and then, but I doubt I can go back to being a regular (lol) viewer because I just can't get past all the furry degeneracy and gay business in every video.

So many "look what he's become!" posts... Brother if anything he's looping back to his pre-fame days.

Before he was RCR he was Kutztown Dragon. If you browse his old channel you'll even find relics of his past he has talked about like his Neon with the Knight Rider scanner. Probably his most interesting piece of content is his talk over of his experience at Anthrocon 2009. (Multi part voice over, rest is on the channel)
If you know much about decade old furfag lore, you should get a kick out of his discussions on Fossil and Prawst, and the shift away from traditional media. If you're a newfriend; it's a really accurate recounting of what it's like to go to a furry convention and realize that it really isn't your jam, with lots of great people-watching tidbits.

He's always been a furry. A lot of the cars he reviewed even in the early days were from furry friends of his, or friends of friends. It was not uncommon for furries to road trip to Anthrocon and link up with RCR during to do a review... Look for plates that are really far out from PA and stickers. Good example is the 97 Tercel video. The only change is now he's explicity open and in your face about it and bought a suit. It's been nearly 2 decades since his AC09 experience that led him away from the fandom publicly, any number of shake ups could have dragged him back in.

I'm usually the guy who reminds everyone of his 'past'. Holy shit though this is some of the most.... accurate environmental storytelling of the con experience I've heard, and a big reminder that before he got too big for his own goddamn britches guy cold tell a tale. God, right down to being approached by a random sperg and ranted at. At that time the 'bank of computers where some tiger guy is in charge' was 100% a thing too.

Again, if he'd just stuck to this incisive storytelling and didn't veer into "HURF BLURF I'M ON THE TOILET MAKING THIS" and then into "I'm a bird telling you how to play the stockmarket", like... It would've been all just okay.

He then malds about the fact SAAB went under and Volvo didn't which seems to be the root cause for his complaints about this car.
SAAB nuts still seethe about 'muh plane company that makes cars' and 'muh insanely turbocharged pressurecooker engines' and 'ignition cassettes were good actually'.

Funny thing today. I'm back home in PA visiting family and we went out to a car show. Someone had to bring their kawaii desu uwu little Kei truck (a JA-subsidized Sambar like most of them), and I took a look. The dealer was the odd bit, a specialty joint:

Seems this joint is in Coatesville which is in about the right kind of exurban Philly arc for the RCR guys. Now, Roman isn't the most uncommon name around here and I can't find a connection on the Internet, but it struck me since a kei truck dealer with a logo like that would be something those guys would do, 100%.
