Remakes you would actually like to see

Humor me: Zardoz as a mini-series.

That movie was one of those times that an auteur really needed an editor, because it had at least twice as many interesting concepts as it had time and space to show and explain, and almost no budget. Nobody even remembers the dystopian supercomputer part of the plot, because it was portrayed as swirling lights and a voiceover in a movie where a lot of things were swirling lights and a voiceover.

I remember how bad Sean Connery's outfit was. That weird harness/diaper thing. Also he wears a wedding dress later. Would you keep that in? The dress. Not the harness diaper thing. Dear God no. :cringe:

No matter how many times I've seen Zardoz I am blown away by how utterly bizarre it is. Everyone should see it at least once.

Not truly a remake but better adaptations of...

Less Than Zero. It's not quite American Psycho-tier but it is a good book and ripe for a proper adaptation.

Sade's Justine. The Jess Franco movie from the 60's is the closest adaptation and I honestly believe that Jess could have made a more true adaptation in all of the novel's horrifying depravity if it was made in the 70's without restrictions.

He didn't wear the dress of his own accord; the Eternals made him. I'd keep it in, at least for a bit; it had good plot reasons. You have to be mindful of the source material with a remake, especially when the original was also a movie, or something else visual. If you're remaking Zardoz, not putting your leading man in a wedding dress for a few scenes is the pretentious and disappointing choice.

I thought Zed's battle loincloth was fun; you could tell immediately this was A Different World. He looked like a cross between a Masters of the Universe figure and Revolver Ocelot. The Eternals stole his Executioner undies and bandolier and gave him pants and a vest of the same color pretty early on, too. For a dystopia they were at least good on leisurewear.

I listened to the director commentary track and there was an awful lot of "this really didn't come across," "I thought this would be cool but nobody noticed" and "we definitely didn't have enough money to attempt this." Boorman still had a lot of nostalgia for it, though. That's his kids' horse in the film, now dead, but he saved the horse's tail and put it into a rocking horse for the grandkids.

Remake Dune but good this time
Baldur's Gate 1&2 on the BG3 engine with Hitler-approved character art AND NO OTHER CHANGES. Hell, do the gold box series and TTOEE too.
Based, if we're doing games I want Patrician 3 remastered with proper modern resolutions and a GUI overhaul

Movie wise, not really anything. Would rather them reboot something like Men in Black to be closer to the original comic, then to try to make a 4th one with Will Smith, but kind of don't care if they never do anything with the ip. Do miss the slasher gerne, so would be happy if some of those came back, but don't want them to be like Nightmare on Elm Street remake, where it doesn't do it's own thing and just worse versions of the originals, but more like how the Fly or the Thing takes the core themes or ideas of the original does something fresh with it .

Games wise
God Hand: Just want they are doing with Dead Rising remake, pretty much one to one remake with some improvement. Would be happy with a remaster using the same assets, but with how the game is coded it would be hard locked to 30fps. So a 1to1 remake that allows for 60fps+ is the way to go.

Resident Evil – Code: Veronica: Game has lot of flaws, mostly in terms of level layouts that a remake in the vein of what capcom did for RE2 or 4 remakes could really transform the game into something great.

Ape Escape 1 to 3: Just give them the Spyro remake treatment. Hell lot of Sony platformers you could give this treatment, but Ape Escape is on the top of my list.

Dino Crisis: Been over due for one, if it happens hope collection does a remaster collection of 1 and 2, then a remake that does it's own thing.

Kid Icarus Uprising: Would be nice to play it without what ever the 3DS control layout was

Deadly Creatures: Was a neat game stuck on the Wii, this one would be fine with a basic remaster making it higher res and removing motion controls

I would love to see a remake of Xenogears, Planescape Torment and Legacy of Kain series.
Granted Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 and 2 are getting a remaster according to the leaks so I am fine with that.

Unfortunately for Xenogears and Planescape Torment on the other hand, I can't see these games going unscathed if they ever get a remake given the topics and themes these games have and talk about. I would also love to see a remake of Diner Dash series because I played these games a lot during my childhood and I'm a sucker for time management and restaurant games that were popular during mid to late 2000s.

From more "obscure" games, I'd like Chulip and the first two Forbidden Siren titles to get remake because I am fond early 2000s Japanese games with
interesting/weird gimmicks.

A remake of Crash Twinsanity would have been amazing. The final product isn't bad per se, but is wildly unfinished. There's tons of unused content and unused ideas that Traveller's Tales never got to implement.
Some of the unused stuff can be seen on Gamehut, run by the founder of TT, Jon Burton.

The Twinsanity rabbit hole goes deep. It would've been awesome to see Vicarious Visions or Toys For Bob try their hands at remaking it, but that's never gonna happen now. :(

Starwars: Knights of the old republic 1&2. The best Starwars games ever made deserve a remake.

The Suffering 1&2. One of the most underrated games of its generation would be amazing reimagined with more horror focused gameplay.

I think it would be cool if they remade Gex: Deep Cover Gecko, but make it all post 2000s shitty/great movies, videogames, and internet references. Have minigames that parody genres of other games like battle royale, fighting, or sandboxes like minecraft. There arent many games that broke the third and fourth wall like that, Postal comes to mind but is fairly crass in presentation and limited in scope. The original games being silly reflections of media from the past made Gex stand out to me.

You don't want current-year Gex. You really fucking don't. It'd be "Remember kids, Gex says trans rights!" and there'd be a drag-queen world and it'd be reverent and asskissing and not taking the piss out of it at all.

I have no idea why people hate on 3D Gex so much, those games are simple but they're charming as hell and i'll be buying the Gex Collection from Limited Run Games for sure when it comes out..

It's been a hot minute since someone has made an adaptation, but I think it would be a great remake, we need more post-apocalypse movies.

Alpha Centauri
Bring back the original voice actors, upscale or remake the special project videos, improve the AI, 4K resolution and add an updated GUI. It's still the best 4X game out there, but God I could do with an update

A remake of Homeland would be cool, the first three seasons anyway. I'd even be happy if Claire Danes was just keyed out and replaced with anybody believable.

Remake Dune but good this time

Remake, or rather finish Dune 1984? I wouldn't change anything about the cat milking, or Jean-Luc carrying a pug into combat, or riding sandworms to a badass electric guitar soundtrack with a choir backing it, but it's obviously half a movie.

This will be controversial, but I really think the A-Team could be a fantastic remake project, where instead of the moral and financial limitations causing the original TV-show to be corny and embarassing, with thousands of rounds wasted every episode just shooting the ground until the enemy gives up, I'd like a remake action TV show about the same characters put into more serious situations where they have to improvise on the spot to build weapons, vehicles, or use very creative tactics. The best episodes of the original show were when this happened, like the episode that takes place entirely in a restaurant where Murdock and Santana have to handle a hostage situation while Face is bleeding out. I think there's great potential in this.

Samurai Jack season 5. While I enjoyed it for what it was, it paled in comparison to the original 4 seasons. Not to mention that the ending for the IDW comic run was much better executed and fitting of the series.

I'd like to see Rayman 1 being remade into a 3D platformer. I saw a video (see below) demonstrating the leaked CPA engine being used to remake one of the levels. That made me wonder how well would the other level's design layout translate into 3D.
On that note, Rayman 2 is one of my favorite games, I'd love to see it and Rayman 3 get HD remakes ala N. Sane Trilogy/Reignited Trilogy. Same with Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie, heck throw in Grunty's Revenge and remake it into a 3D game, and I'd buy it day 1.

There's a game for the Gamecube called Cubivore: Survival of the Fittest, it's a weird game, but it has some interesting ideas, seeing it remade for modern consoles with some quality of life improvements would be a treat.

Also a few years ago the creative producer for Toys For Bob said if given the oppurtunity, he'd like to remake the obscure N64 game Space Station Silicon Valley. It's a shame that never happened.
