Historically, the political sections of websites have been the reason they've been forcefully taken down, other than CP and hax0r1ng. Look at the imageboards for example:
- 4ch ("beta uprising" shooter post. /r9k/, but you can bet he was tangled in /new/)
- 8ch (Turned into 8kun because of dumb faggot /pol/ shooter)
- Meguca (Switched domains because of dumb faggot /pol/ shooter)
- Endch (Killed off a domain because of dumb faggot /pol/ shooter)
It always ends up being some retard who thinks posting their manifesto and livestreaming a shooting is a good idea, and then they fuck over tens of thousands of other users when the website gets booted. Before the boot happens, usually they end up leaking into other areas of the website and shitting up the quality. 8/tech/ is a good example of this happening, where every thread ended up having 20 mentions of the word nigger and the average post quality deteriorated rapidly with arguments about race and the government. What the fuck does this have to do with technology except for some esoteric historical significance?
A&N is a cesspool, and threatens the website more than any other board. Null isn't the type to crumble under the spotlight of news and law enforcement, but the last thing the farms needs is connections with actual terrorist attacks. I'm all for freedom of speech, but when 5% of the website threatens the freedom of the other 95%, something should be done about it.
Ultimately its up to the discretion of Josh as to whether or not A&N should be kept, but I would've destroyed it the second it started turning into another /pol/. It isn't healthy for imageboards, or any website for that matter, especially considering that this is almost always the reason that law enforcement and glowies get involved.
