Resident Evil 3 Remake is apparently in development

Is anyone else wondering whether Capcom will use these remakes to branch out into a new continuity and retcon 5 and 6 out of existence?
There's no reason to, I think 7 did an absolutely acceptable job of soft rebooting it. And to be honest, I want them to stay canon because I enjoy the memes and this is one of the very few franchises I know of that hasn't retconned its timeline constantly and very rarely declares works non-canon.

Wasn't this confirmed a million years ago? Like, before even RE2 Remake came out this was kind of a given?
They said that if 2 remake does well then that would influence the chance of RE3. I am just worried about the proposed next year release date. I am worried they are gonna chug it out and that will impact the quality of the game.

Half the game is already done by using the enemies, locations and other assets.
Hell, Nemesis could in large part use the AI of the Tyrant.

The biggest problem here is that they could fuck up the branching path systemof the original, like how thet did with cenario B in REmake2.(in that it almost does not exist)

Or fuck up the Nemesis A.I.

It's a done deal, knew it as soon as REmake 2 sold well and I remembered RE3 takes place in the RPD as well (at least for a time). The RPD has already been constructed in the RE engine, so the opening chapters of REmake 3 are essentially completed for the dev team. At the very least development for 3 shouldn't take nearly as long as 2.

You only spend like 10 minutes in RPD in RE3. You go to the STARS office, then leave. In fact, most of the interior levels in RE3 are like that. Most of the game is spent outside on the city streets. It'll be interesting to see if they preserve that approach, or downsize the exterior environments and expand RPD, the hospital, the clock tower, the factory, etc.

Personally if I was remaking RE3 I'd make it into a semi-open world game that takes place in a large chunk of Raccoon City that you can mostly explore freely. If it's just a rehashed RE2 remake with different characters and bosses I'll be disappointed.

What kind of hat do you think they'll give Nemesis?

5 and 6 are such shite though, I want a proper final confrontation with Wesker.

7 doesn't have to be rendered non-canon, but Capcom should release a game retconning both 5 and 6 and give us the "real" showdown with Wesker.

You think they'd put feathers on the dinos?

A good idea for a Dino Crisis reboot would rather than time travel, have it involve quantum mechanics and have scientists tap into an alternate dimension where dinosaurs never went extinct and have since evolved to look like what we used to think dinos looked like.

I absolutely loved the RE2 remake (Full disclosure, I hadn’t gotten into the series until then), so I’m excited to see the story continue, but I hope it isn’t frustrating actual long-time fans.

You were in luck because RE2 Remake is surprisingly faithful to the old school RE experience, just with a few modern concessions but not at the coast of losing the classic RE feel, it was the best of both worlds and a great place to start.

Although do yourself a favor and go back and play REmake 1 as well at least, though be prepared for some added challenge.

Story details are starting to leak.

They changed the lore a bit. Nemesis is a MtF trans woman dealing with the emotional trauma of an uncaring society and trans oppression. Jill is a cold and uncaring TERF trying to prevent Ms Nemi from living her beautiful life. You still play as Jill but by the end you root for Nemesis by witnessing her struggle, constantly being misgendered and triggered by Jill.

In the new game+ DLC you play as Ms Nemi and smash that bigoted bitch Jill.

Oh and Carlos is apparently a Trump supporting alt-right Nazi.

This will truly be a tale for our time.

One of the best things about the Remake was how it made the basic zombies dangerous again, with the traditional method of shooting them in the head being the worst tactic, and the damage RNG creating a lot of tension. I still remember damn near shitting myself playing the original RE3 when I did the fool-proof method of going through a door to escape Tyrant, only for him to burst through and keep chasing me.

Yes, it's funny how just simply making head shots not fatal makes the zombies as big of a threat as they were in the old games.

And atmosphere wise while the cinematic camera angles never really bothered me, there's a special kind of creepy to looking ahead to a zombie down a dark hallway.

It only took Capcom almost 15 years, but they finally nailed down the formula of how to update Resident Evil while still making it feel absolutely like Resident Evil.

RE7 was good and a step in the right direction, but first person changes the feel a lot, RE2 Remake absolutely nails it and I hope it's the model for all the games afterward.
